DIN FTW! :D

Whoever designed integrated stereos should go design washing machines instead.

It's a fine line between cracking and finally having a good excuse. ;)

The crap thing is that the $AU -> Yen is still a poor conversion. I was hoping I could pay Japan parts in $US. :(

And I agree, the head unit selection process will be slow. Last I looked, I ended up pointing at a Clarion HX-DX2 (I think that's the model) as if I really went nuts I could go active 3 ways up front. Alternatively though, anything with good TA and EQ/amp options will suit me for more than what I'll want . . . . . . at least for now. ;-)

Still looking at $300 ish + postage though.

Total ammount decucted from my account was $388, which wasn't to bad, that was from avojdm and was very quick turnaround, japanparts would have been a lot more

I'm more concerned about the follow on costs that come with it........

- Head unit ~$1-2K
- 4ch amp ~$1-2K (for fronts and possibly rears depending on setup)

Install time ~8-16hrs
Tuning time ~2-4hrs
Deafness ~2-4 weeks post install

I've already got the sub amp in hand, so it's just the other bits I needs. Speakers and cabling is already done.

Is AVOJDM pricing in $US or $AU? I'm assuming $US?

Don't worry, just answered that by rego'ing to the site.

Yeah every year I have a piggy bank that I put gold coins into all year. I crack it open at the start of December so we'll see how much there is and what toy I can buy this year ;)

Sure was!

Is the original HU's worth anything? Likely to get anything for it off ebay? Plan on keeping this car for awhile, so doubt I will remove the HU if i decide to sell it...

Not so much the HU that's valuable - more so the A/V kit. I'm sure there'll be someone on this forum looking for one when you get rid of your car. Hence the reason I'm holding onto mine, so I can help out a fellow forumer when I upgrade to a post-facelift in 2 years time ;)
