Mine doesn't play ID3 tags regardless. and I don't think I secured my EA1251 properly.

My iPod is in the glovebox in the top right little hole/

hey clarence....had time to road test some more today...and you're right doesn't display regardless....

what I've noticed is that while it is still on it will remember the last played position of each track and playlist but if you switch the car off long enough it will reset back to the very first file in your IPOD (all song list)

but all in all I'm happy with it...and the reason why its not in the glove box is that I have the GPS so the dvd drive is blocking it.

I think your iPod actually turns itself off i.e. runs out of battery, that's why it resets.

Hey Clarence, is it hard to run the cable from the 1251 up to the glove box?

Cheers,

Nope :) the box thing actually comes apart from the glovebox so it's a fairly easy.

I guess so, I use that spot to house my interior glass chamois sponge thing, and my iPod :P

It's quite easy to run the cable up. It's also quite easy to take the glovebox off. ;)

Did you need to cut a hole inside the glove box to put the iPod cable through?

Yup, just a small hole in the corner to feed the wire through. The 'DVD case' unclips and is hinged on one side, so it's quite easy :)

Thanks Clarance. (And D_Liberty too). Your experience will stand me in good stead hopefully. Muchly appreciated.

So its the silver trims first yeah? Then the gear stick surround? Then the HVAC panel?

silver trims from both sides, then the park brake boot, then follow the rest of my write up in that order.... just skip the steps on taking the center console off

get some towels to cover the area near the HU before taking it out, remember 6 screws , 3 on each side but make sure you're taking out the right ones 2 that will be right inside (1 on each side) close to the back of the HU the other two closer to the front (you won't miss it) I think there's been other write ups on this for previous models where it shows you the locations of the screws.

as for the glove box good luck.....I as did not install it there....

I don't think the hole that you drill will be small as the cable supplied both ends are much bigger than the cable itself (obviously), check it out at those online audio sites on the look of the cable....

Zoo, do you have 04-06 or 07+?

With the 04-06, you take the chrome surround around the gearshifter off first.
