As in the 3.5mm headphone jack on the Nexus or the inputs on the DAC?

Yes, I've tried both and using the DAC is 100x better than the AUX in.

Question to OP - how did you go with your info panel relocation kit? Does it fit properly and is there 2 revisions? Reason I ask is I ordered one from AVOjdm which didn't fit and they tell me there is only one. I then ordered one from Garage 88 and got the wrong one again yet Japanparts has 2 revisions listed which I assume is for pre/post facelift models.

Sorry for my extremely late response's guys! In relation to the DAC I did indeed connect a Behringer uca202 and it worked perfectly , but I didnt notice any noticeable increase in audio quality. Perhaps it was under powered though because it was only running through a non powered USB hub. I might have to give it another go. Although because Im running the AUX cable directly to the "Line In" into my Eclipse CD5030 I'm not sure if it would make that much of a difference.

Now for the Information relocation panel I was extremely confused by this as well because on JapanParts the options were strange.
I selected D-F and when it arrived I followed the Japanese instructions and put it together properly but it never really sat flush :( .

I emailed JapanParts saying that I was unsure if I had selected the right one and the replied saying "As stated in the item description, the choice is for the applied model. The
model year of your car is 2007, then the choice of D-F is indeed correct." So...Yeah. It's actually quite un-noticeable now but when i first installed it I was like :o ...

For facelift, if it's just a clock then no you wouldn't if you didn't really want it. I want it in my pre facelift for fuel economy and shit.

It's only a clock on the GT's and 3.0R's. The 2.0R and 2.5i's still have it as fuel consumption, temp gauge, trip timer and clock.

Umm Strange, My 3.0R - B displays Time , Fuel consumption , Average Fuel consumption , temperature and possibly something else. If it was only a clock then of course I wouldnt care about it haha :)

Rev A-C is for pre facelift so MY04-MY06 and Rev D-F is for facelift so MY07-MY09. I found a post elsewhere on here explaining the descriptions. For future reference, the rev D-F is completely the wrong shape for a pre facelift car and none of the screw holes line up so you can't even bodge the fitment.

Shows six items:
  • Time
  • Estimated distance to empty
  • Current fuel consumption based on throttle
  • Average fuel consumption for both trip meters
  • Ambient termperature
  • Elapsed Time since starting the vehicle

:)
I was going to procrastinate, but I put it off...

Didn't notice the inputs on the DAC, but either.

Yes there's a 2 channel input on the DAC. The 3.5mm jack is an output only I think, can't see it working with any sort of Bluetooth/phone input.

From some discussions on the USB Rom thread, it's not possible to run a mic in via USB. Personally I use a small handsfree on the sun visor, which automatically pairs when I get in the car. Phone also pairs with tablet automatically and I use Tablet Talk to make and answer calls. The voice then comes through the stereo and the mic from the handsfree is used.

Interesting that postFL info panel relocation kits aren't working. The one I ordered from Japanparts (A-C) worked perfectly for my preFL. For those having trouble understanding the applied model codes on Japanparts, click the picture of your model car (instead of the text adjacent) when selecting your model and it gives you a run-down.

Agree with others, DAC makes a massive difference in volume, bass and clarity. Well worth it, and very small outlay for OP considering you have an aftermarket headunit, meaning no AUX in adapter required.

Agreed. I have the UCA202 connected to my 2nd gen (2013) unrooted Nexus and using the USB Audio Player Pro app, and it was like the whole stereo had been upgraded! Also charges the Nexus with a USB Y-cable and GPS, wifi and BT enabled via a 2.1A cig to USB adaptor.
Interestingly though, I recently upgraded my cheap Kogan bluetooth device to a Belkin Aircast and was amazed by the significant improvement in sound quality - it's almost on par with running through the UCA202, so I'm thinking of removing that now.

So I would say the order of sound quality from various sources is as follows:

- radio (worst)
- FM-transmitted Mp3s (bad - waste of $)
- cheap bluetooth (convenient, but poor SQ - no bass)
- direct connection via headphone jack (OK sound; messy)
- Belkin Aircast / CD player with burnt CDs (good quality - both pretty much on par)
- UCA202 & USB Audio Player Pro (best)

So what you're saying is that your tablet is paired with your mobile and the handsfree simultaneously via bluetooth. And your mobile is NOT paired in any way with the handsfree.
Do you have to change a setting in Tablet Talk so that it knows to output the call through the 3.5mm (your car speakers) instead of the speaker on your handsfree?

Thanks

My comment was in reference to the facelift Liberty. As stated by Tim the trip computer information is displayed on the odometer display on the facelift GT's and 3.0's. However the 2.0R and 2.5i's still use the clock display to show trip computer information.

Hi John,

Great looking install. Very clean!
I'm currently going through the same protracted research process it sounds like you did before diving into this job. Your help would be greatly appreciated...
Re your Joycon installation:
-How much control do you have of the tablet with steering wheel controls? Change tracks, play pause, etc?
-Could you detail exactly which wires you tapped in to?

Thanks!

Nice install Yorky.

I've recently done this as well but went down the DCDC/USBDAC path and couldn't be happier.

However I've had charging issues and cannot seem to find a Y cable that is suitable. Most have thinner gauge cable from the Female end (where your std charging cable plugs in) and then heavier gauge where it plugs into the tablet, which doesn't make sense as the current bottleneck still exists.

I'm yet to find a cable that will charge the tablet on the go. How have you fared with playing music etc while charging? does your tablet lose power?

I can't run torque or pandora without draining the battery to death.....
