I may be able to help. Would you please:

* Post the model number of your McIntosh HU (PF-xxx, along with the Subaru "part number" while you're looking)

* Post larger, clear pictures of the entire front, rear, and top (with label) of the HU, with all cables unplugged

* Post pictures of your 14-pin power harness (which would also have speaker wires in cars without the Mc HU).

* Pictures of any other harnesses plugged into the HU (besides the antenna and DIN cord that links to the Mc amp)

* Change the topic of this thread to something a bit more descriptive (e.g., Installed steering wheel controls, not working).

Do the SWC buttons light up with your instrument panel lights (when you turn on your headlights)?

The McIntosh/Clarion and Subaru model numbers are printed on a sticker on the top. You'll have to pull the HU to see it.

Why can't you remove it? It's pretty easy if you have good instructions.

Sorry, I need the model number to match up to service manuals that I have. Subaru has many instances of HUs that look very similar from the front but have slight differences inside.

I also need to see if the wires from your SWCs go into one of the harnesses plugged into the back of your HU (or is possibly even taped back, currently not connected).

The next step will be to verify that the SWCs are connected all the way from the wheel to that harness (using an ohm meter to check the aforementioned harness behind the HU).

If you can't pull the HU yourself, find someone who can help you do that.

My theory is that your car might only need a fairly simple wiring adapter -- to connect the SWC wires from the current harness they're on to a different harness. But I won't be able to tell for sure until I can see what you have.

Ok I'll contact Subaru tomorrow and find out the model number , but, I know that this stereo does work with the controls at the turbos have the exact set up , I think it's the wiring between the stereo and controls that are not set up in this model Subaru must run different wiring for different models. I assumed they would run only one type of loom.
Cheers Steve
