Just did mine too.
Too easy.

Also routed it to pop up through the little flip storage area.
Gonna grab an ipod charging cable, then make a holder, and bam nicely mounted gps/phone/mp3 player :p

A little disappointed with volume level though. 35 on aux is about 25 on cd.
Is this the same with other installs?

Yeah, mines low too.

Have to max my ipod and then its about 25 or so in car
Swapping to cd had to lower it down to 15,16.

Always happens though. Radio/CD has a difference of about 5.

I have a mcint in my 08 gtb, and I ordered an aux-in with it - 3.5mm socket in the centre cubby.

With a mcintosh, is there only the cable from it to the amp in behind the unit? No speaker connection under the unit in the centre?

To adapt a normal car HU, what would I need to do in terms of taking normal spaeker leads and connecting them to amp? Is a Line Out COnverter the thing I need? Has anybody done this, or do they replace the Mc amp with a normal one?

tks

What iPod did you have? It charged all of mine when I had the Mcintosh/EA1251 combo.

New iPods/iPhone wont charge as they only charge on a 5v line.
You need to step the cable down using a 12-5V adapter, and even then its 50/50.

Better off going for the newer units with the 3.5mm jack and getting a charging kit.
Cheaper and safer (ignoring the PCB frying that happened :p )

When the unit is plugged into the back of the mcintosh, you hit CDx2 = CHG(Changer) :)

Post resurrection....

Hi Viper, dogsfoot, Andrew or anyone else who bought one of these gadgets.

I am going to give this one more shake in the hopes of creating an MP3 solution for my 05 Mac.

Can you guys identify the item you bought which seemed to work with our head unit?

The ebay links are all too old for me to see the item..

Help is much appreciated.

Cheers.

Gday Fibble,

Don't have the exact answer to your question, but from all my research thus far i concluded that the Axxess AIP-CL-ID, seemed to be the best choice.

I searched for freakin ages trying to get one and tracked one down here:

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio ... CL-ID.aspx

I think it ended up costing me $95
Hasn't arrived yet, so fingers crossed it does and it all works smoothly

They seem to be rare as hens teeth these days
