Good brands for subs

Aye umm yeah I wanna buy a 10inch sub woofer but idk what's a good brand I was think soundstream

I want it to hav that huge ass magnet on but don't kno what kind to get :/

How much are you looking to spend?
How much power will you be feeding it?
What kind of enclosure are you going to use?
What amp will you be powering it off?
Why do you want something with a big magnet? Will you be installing it inverted?

I had a Alpine Type R and that had a decent sized magnet, sounded pretty good too. However I couldn't resist in purchasing a JL Audio 12W7 a month ago at a great price! Sound great now!

A question Garbo didnt ask is what are you aiming to get out of the sub? Do you want the sub to be just stupidly load? Or do you want it to go into a sound quality setup? Or do you want a bit of both?

Yeah I want a bit of both but more to the sound quality
I would like it to be inverted but I don't min if it's not
Don't hav amp
And don't want it to take up to much space

If you don't have an amp, how are you going to power the sub? You will need to think about a mono amp for the sub, or a four channel amp to run the front speakers and the sub.

Inverting subs adds a lot of w4nk factor, if done correctly they can sound really good, but if not done correctly, they can sound like a$$.

I'm goin to get the amp to run off the stock subs wiring
So mono should do fine yes?
Well I'm looking for sub first then get the amp I need for it later that's why I'm asking about subs :3

So you are plannign to run the sub off the OEM amp for a bit then upgrade later? If so, that sub will sound like balls running off the OEM amp. It isn't sensitive enough to run effectively off the 30wRMS or so coming from the factory amp. BUT, it's up to your ears at the end of the day. For the money for that Soundstream sub, you can get a lot, LOT better options. Go and listen to as many subs as you can and get what sounds best to you. I come from a background from some pretty high end SQ installs, so to my ears that Soundstream sub will sound terrible however it might sound good to you. You seem to be pretty setr on a Soundstream sub so go for it, just don't expect good results. It'll go loud but it will sound muddy.

You're in Bankstown right? Take a trip to FHRX Studios and you will be amazed at the quality of gear you can get for that kind of money from a proper car audio manufacturer.

First off, I wouldnt even consider that soundstream sub in our cars. Reason being it is a shallow sub. I had a shallow sub at one stage, it was a Rockford P3. Sounded like dogs balls, didn't go low enough, was unhappy with it as soon as it went in.

We have plenty of space in our boot, so just go for a full size 12" and you will be happy once its properly amped.

Definitely a good idea to take some music that you would normally listen to to a good car audio store and listen to some.
I have had my heart set on speakers before from looking around the web and then when I went and listened to them and I thought they were rubbish compared to other speakers that were in the shop and were actually cheaper.

Different speakers can sound so different even if they look similar and different speakers definitely suit different types of music.
And more price doesn't always mean better for your ears and music.
