MY08 Liberty DVD Screen Lock

Postby Hutchy » Thu Apr 02, 2009 8:17 pm

Hi Guys, I am new to this forum, so please forgive me if this one has already been covered, but I couldn't find anything in my searches.

My MY08 Liberty has the SatNav/DVD system, and although I know the Australian laws state that you cannot have the DVD screen visible whilst the car is moving. But in case I wanted to test out disabling this, would there be a way that this can be done?

I like to watch DVD's whilst I drive up my driveway, it's a very long driveway by the way, so it would be handy, and legal I understand, to watch a DVD whilst I drive up my driveway. Any clues guys?

Many thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum & introduce your self :) in the intro section

Legacygt.com has defiantly covered this subject in detail, but basically you disconnect the hand break signal wire that goes back to the screen

Id be interested in this also...Although i dont have the DVD player, it annoys me how the GPS locks out most features once you go over 5kms or whatever it is. Why shouldn't the passenger be able to use it?

I found the info in this thread very useful.. http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63678 going to give it ago next weekend.
I've already grounded the blue/grey cable going into the satnav unit so that the video input stays on while the car is in motion, works great!

Just to add to what dutch7 wrote...this hack is only for the Kenwood 1200 Satnav - the old style one without the bluetooth, DVD player, radio integration etc...

Cheers
