Postby almunro » Sun Mar 22, 2009 4:27 pm

what is the cable type or part number i require to add Aux In to my 07 liberty? I know you can get subaru to do it, but i dont mind doing it myself with the rest of my install.

any info is appreciated.

maybe im just being a tight wad here, but 200 for a cable to connect a ipod, thats a rip. surely there is a generic brand/version or one could be made up with stuff from jaycar etc? what kind of plug is it that fits the back?

are you after a 3.5mm to 3.5mm aux cable?
if so, dicksmith should have em for cheap
or some $2 stores!

Alex,

Have a read at the following post

http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?t=4428

and maybe send sk00t3r a message about the part number.

Hope this helps.

ive read that post before thanks. i know there is a subaru part that i can go to a dealer and get an aux in adaptor that plugs into the back so i can then use a 3.5mm jack to plug my ipod into. i know this. what i wanted to find out but it seems like know one can/has made up a adapter cable that is the same as the subaru one only cheaper than the $113-200 that people have paid for them.

i take it that its not really worth the effort so i will most likely get one from suabru or wait and get a double din fascia kit and replace the stereo with something decent that hjas dvd/cd/usb/ipod already.

thanks again

Crikey it was only $140 extra, fitted, when I bought the car. Are they really charging $200 without fitting?!

my mistake
it was only $120, not $200.
...it was the liverpool hume hwy dealer that quoted me
$200 + a converter they had to ORDER in (did not specify cost at time)
...PLUS installation (some ridiculous figure as you could imagine...)

just buy the cable and DIY, like i said it takes 25 mins
8 mins to carefully open the dash and take the HU out
1 min to plug it in (yes its PnP),
about 8 mins to run the cable to your console
and 8 mins to put your dash back together again and wipe the fingerprints off :D
