2007 Mac HU into 2006 Liberty

Postby mattson » Sun Mar 29, 2009 5:56 pm

Has anyone ever done a headunit transplant from a new 07 liberty Mac head unit with mp3/aux into the older 2006 liberties - only reason I ask is cause going of GTSPEC's 07 liberty salvage thread a 07 head deck is a cheaper upgrade then a after market and double/single din fascia kit from Japan-land.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Matt

I haven't done it, but you would also need the amp's and wiring loom (amps are under the seat). It wont work without the amps and their not standard amps.

i mean wifeys car at the moment has the amp under the seat and all?

"14" speakers in the facelifted car vs "13" speakers in the pre-facelift so I'd say there may be a bit of a difference or maybe not.

I was going to get one as well but didn't end up doing so. What do you want it for though? If it's just MP3 or iPod control, just pick up a Clarion EA1251. I might have one for sale soon.

The Clarion EA1251 works by having you set up playlists on your iPod called Clarion1, Clarion2 -> Clarion 5.

These numbers correspond to the "cd's" in the Cd stacker, with the last one (or first one) being all songs on the ipod.

It's not the worlds best solution, but it's not the worst either.

you don't get filenames on the mac display, and you can't control the ipod from the ipod, you have to use the macintosh controls.

If you're comfortable taking the centre console apart, it's easy to install.

Rgds
