Securing subwoofer!

Postby drndrn » Tue Dec 16, 2008 10:43 pm

I'm not sure if anyone else has this problem, but with a sub in the trunk + spirited driving, it usually results in the sub sliding around in the trunk, so much so it's since broken my hanger thingo on the boot. Anyways, if you guys have a sub in the boot, what did you use to secure it, so that even when the car is driven like its stolen, it still remains secure.

Have you thought about adding additional subs? I'm sure with the boot filled from end to end with subs, they won't move around that much. :P

Or simply chuck a few dead bodies in the boot that should hold it down. Maybe you can go through Jims car and take parts out of it and use them as a securing point? yes you will have to pay Jim the amount of cash he bought it for.

Yeah, I'll just go through Jim's car and take all the USELESS parts, ie. THE AUTO BOX! :D I'm sure that'd help hold my sub!

Anyways, ideas anyone?

DrnDrn,

Have you tried simply using some minor metal brakets to screw into the box and attach to your car ??

or even looked at a fibre class enclosure, would aid in perfect sound and protect your sub. jb do install for $300 plus tuning :p

Metal brackets? Attach to my car how? I assume you mean like screw it onto the floor of the boot? Even then with spirited driving I think it'd all come loose and probably tear my floor. :S

In previous set up I've had, I used a metal bracet that was screwed into the parcel shelf. Unsure if you can pull of the same thing in the Libertys as I haven't had a good look in the boot of a sedan. I guess it all depends how keen you are to drill holes in things, but generally speaking, no one looks for extra holes in the boot :P

I have used this set up for the past 3 years and it is still in place and cos my car doesnt have a turbo the fun factor in my car is going round corners at close to warp speed. :)

I've got mine secured to the top and sides in my STi impreza with high tensile straps and a bit of velcro on the bottom...

the straps have those plastic push locks on them and the aligator clips on the sub box simply pop off.

so I can pop the whole sub box out entirely when I hit the drags or skid pan/track days

VELCROOOO is the best lol

i just covered the bottom of my sub box with velcro, and even with spirited driving the thing doesnt move a bit.. the heavier the sub the better it sticks 8)
