Battery being drained. Could it be the head unit?

Postby ZB28 » Mon May 05, 2025 7:52 am

Hi guys I have a 2018 Liberty 2.5 base. The battery gets drained in two days. I noticed there's a 'laptop fan' noise which comes from behind the head unit...on (3s)...off...on (3s)...off even after the vehicle is locked by pressing the lock button on the key from inside the car. This surely would be draining the battery. I also noticed the head unit displays the Subaru startup image in a loop and never actually boots and the right side power button is flimsy and doesn't work. The reverse camera is functioning OK.

What do you guys recommend? I also noticed a few fuses missing (I don't drive the car myself).

It could be almost any appliance.

Check this video out where MrSubaru1387 diagnoses a parasitic battery drain.
