 No go alas.
Either the burn failed, or thats not the correct method.
Time to invest in more research and DL discs. :)

A random thought perhaps but has anyone actually purchased a genuine update disc? If so, will the system boot up after you have disconnected the battery? I am wondering if the genuine subaru update disc has the necessary software on it or if its still necessary to put the original v12 (or whatever came with the car) in first to let the system boot before putting the latest map disc in?

Damn, thanks for the effort though - was worth a try!

I'm pretty sure all genuine Subaru discs (v14 was original in my case) will always have everything the Nav needs. Even when someone buys a newer disc. It's only that we're downloading eg the v20 Toyota discs with the latest maps that we have this issue. Or in the case of the v19 disc, I think it was a generic Whereis discs. We're just lucky they still work.
But would be interesting to hear from someone who paid for a DVD from Subaru.

Main post - http://www.gpspower.net/subaru/330830-a ... ibeca.html
Download links - http://www.gpspower.net/mitsubishi/3308 ... a-v20.html

Am downloading now and will hopefully be able to test and report back in a few hours.

If all successful, I'll also repackage and seed as a Torrent as I dislike download sites.

TIP: If you download the files from the above site, use z-Zip (http://7-zip.org) to extract the .ISO file.

Please do, one less site I have to register on! I'll happily seed the torrent once its up.

Either that or post the direct zippyshare links here :P

TIPx2: If you're too lazy to install 7-Zip like me, just combine the files manually to create the single zip file.

Open a Windows cmd prompt and run:
Code: Select all
copy /b MMCV20a.zip.* MMCV20a.zip

Or for Linux:
Code: Select all
cat MMCV20a.zip.* > MMCV20a.zip

Don't forget to burn slowest speed possible.
Don't lose your original disc w/ software...
Do use a windows burner where possible.

From recent research, deleting the LOADING.KWI file may allow the .iso to fit on a single layer DVD-R disc...
This might increase the burn success rate with C2.
Of course correct me if that info is wrong :)

Otherwise use a DL DVD+R...

^The V20 C2 ISO image is only 3.67GB so will fit on a single layer disc already.

It does not contain NZ map data - I guess this is why the size is smaller.

Excellent!
I'll be asking your help no doubt with command line programs for unpacking and packing that LOADING.KWI...

eg: LoadingView.exe and unpack_kwi.exe

When unpacked we have access to image files and can maybe compare and fix the original software issue. :)

Or read this for more info: http://www.takingthingsapart.org/index. ... mitstart=1
Basically I have no idea how to use that parser unpack_kwi.exe , any tips?

This is as far as I get:

No worries Benny, I'll have a look into it!

I was actually starting to think I was going to have to work out a way to convert a C1 disc into a C2 disc (if it's even possible) until you found that link! No need now, thanks.

But happy to put on my reverse engineer hat (actually, t-shirt) any time.

I haven't tried myself but the command should be this?
Code: Select all
unpack_kwi.exe u loading.kwi

Alas V12C1 might be too big at 300Mb.
I think opening it in a hex editor might be the way forward.

So the links I posted earlier are all good and the ISO burnt just fine and updated my Subaru from the v19 to the v20 maps. :D

I've created a new torrent that hopefully is accessible here - http://tinyurl.com/o2e37tn

The files I originally downloaded and combined into an ISO from the other forums are here:

Part 1 of 10 - http://www75.zippyshare.com/v/28375124/file.html
Part 2 of 10 - http://www31.zippyshare.com/v/73157475/file.html
Part 3 of 10 - http://www29.zippyshare.com/v/11869237/file.html
Part 4 of 10 - http://www64.zippyshare.com/v/30381639/file.html
Part 5 of 10 - http://www37.zippyshare.com/v/38658226/file.html
Part 6 of 10 - http://www16.zippyshare.com/v/62655012/file.html
Part 7 of 10 - http://www56.zippyshare.com/v/33853656/file.html
Part 8 of 10 - http://www5.zippyshare.com/v/70610680/file.html
Part 9 of 10 - http://www54.zippyshare.com/v/65862080/file.html
Part 10 of 10 - http://www31.zippyshare.com/v/89532637/file.html

To be honest, they came down really fast. I think it took me less than 30 mins to download the lot (total of 1.73GB).

ENJOY!
