my05 liberty subwoofer upgrade

Postby Jap_spec » Sat Feb 01, 2014 8:12 am

Hi guys

I just bought the car and it has a 13 speaker system and I want to upgrade it. Originally I was going to change the stock amplifier to a 4 channel mono block amp, however, I found out that the speakers in the car are all 8 ohm and so I decided to leave the amp alone. If possible I would like to keep the head unit but I would like to add one mono block for a sub woofer. I did some research but I couldn't find much information about this. Is it possible to run a mono block for the subs with the stock head unit?

Thanks guys

Depends what your budget is...

If I were you i'd do the whole system (New HU, Amps, front speakers, sub) but that gets expy..

It is possible to retain the stock system and hook up a sub with line-level input adapter but yea..

Some will argue the McIntosh sounds average (myself included) but each to their own

Thanks for reply!
Well, it is very average sound system. I think it's not super great but it's not that bad.
Iv got 4ch and mono amp, speakers and subs from my old car. So I don't necessary need buy anymore than what iv got.
If I had time I would change everything, however I won't have time at all!so if I can keep everything stock and install an additional ordinary 4ohms amp and sub that would be good enough for me.
One of my front speaker have gone bad today, so I need them replaced. (Front bottom speaker)
Does anyone have a spare in good nick?or where can I find a 8 ohms speaker in brisbane?

What do you think about this?

This would replace the front speakers no problem right?
