You'd have to go custom. Subaru doesn't offer that as an option. As for hooking it up to the stock DVD player - it MAY work if there's an output on it, but i'm not too sure sorry. Even if it does work though, because the stock unit is in view of the driver, you may not be able to play DVD's on the move (unless you work around with a park brake fix)

I had an aftermarket pioneer DVD headunit in my last car. Was thinking about putting in headrest screens. From my research I found 2 head rest screens for about 150-200bux. I was going to fit them myself to save some cash. You can find some on eBay or head to autobarn, jb hifi or any car stereo place, I'm sure they could hook you up.

As said in the previous post, it may not work since the stock DVD unit sits in front of the driver and you may need to work around the hand brake to get it working. But from my aftermarket one. I know that there was a cable running from the headunit to the park brake that I never installed. So it worked no matter what position the hand brake was in.

I'm sure it can be done. Just depends on whether you can work around that.

I have already done the park brake work around.

Went into autobarn and got quoted $1100 fully installed for option audio ones heres the link for them http://www.optionaudio.com.au/lcd_scree ... hrdvav.php haven't really heard much about them. does anyone know if they are good and if thats a good deal.
Thanks

Hi,
I apologise for going off your original topic.
I have just bought the Liberty GT MY10 and would love to know what you did for the hand brake workaround. Did you do it yourself? I have called a few Autobarns outlets who were unwilling to even try as they thought it would be too hard. I would greatly appreciate any info you can provide on this.

Stay away from Autobarn... the installers will damage the crap out of your car

Correct me if I'm wrong here guys but the RCA plugs in the centre console are "in" only, for the MY10 GT at least, so whatever your playing on the screen will not come through the RCA plugs.....but I guess you could hook up the rear screens to play through the RCA inputs onto the front screen and therefore the stock sound system.

Re: handbreak hack - I just noticed on another forum that the yanks are doing it to a unit under the seat. My MY10 hasn't been delivered yet, can anyone else confirm that you can do this on AU models?

The MY10 hack has been done on the AU model; it is done on the back of the Nav unit... the underseat hack is not for the MY10, the entire MY10 Nav unit is in the front dash.

See the PDF from Nizzmo two posts above. More testomony can be found in This Thread for MY10 hack - In the second page Aussies start reporting it works fine.

I will do it as well, just got a couple of things I want the dealer to sort out first...

edit: the retarded thing is you can do some functions but not others... dumb... at least the workaround is easy!

Doesn't the "Liberty" Exiga have screens in the headrests?

Subaru web site says:

"Rear DVD entertainment system with 9-inch display screen"

Singular 'screen' - maybe roof mounted...

No Nav listed standard or as an option so no front screen.

Speak to these guys - I saw it in the paper today, they match the interior leather and it has a DVD player built in.

The thing is, they sell slave units with a monitor only, if you went slave/slave, you might be able to connect it to the clarion deck
