MY07 Rear Speakers

Postby mihai » Wed Mar 24, 2010 5:43 pm

Hi all,

Recently bought a alpine 4ch Amp. Going to get it installed soon, thinking of running all 4 speakers from the amp. Im going to replace the front splits with SPL Dynamics and im going to leave the rears stock, however playing around with my HU i noticed that the rears have NO BASS at all. If i want more bass on the rears, would putting the front stock 6" into the back doors be better than the rears at the moment(in terms of bass)? And also would they be straight swap? (minus the tweeter obviously)

Thanks.

This sounds familiar, did you make a post about this a while back?

I had to run only my stock rear speakers on the weekend with no other speakers or sub or amp in the car, and they give plenty of bass for the size that they are (6" I think)

I'd suggest bridging your front stage on your amp and just running the rears off the head unit. You don't want too much bass coming from the rears, they are basically for passengers and you will end up dragging your imaging too far back.

What are the amp/speaker specs???
Car(s): Steel Silver MY10 GT Wagon + 1985 Subaru Sherpa

Mods: (GT) HKS Panel Filter. The HKS I put in the MY10 is the same filter I took out of my MY05 GT. So yes, they do fit. Custom leather heel pad to minimise carpet wear in the drivers footwell. Slotted front rotors. (Sherpa) 14'' 6 Spoke mags, Chrome Gear Shift (sick!), Alloy Pedals (sicker!), new positive and negative battery terminals, Alpine cda-9827 H/U, JBL GT 6x9's boxed and mounted (sickest!), Kicker DS650.2 component speakers mounted in the footwells in flibreglass pods, Alpine MRP-F200 4 channel amp (4x40wRMS), Rebadged with hektik chrome eBay badges, STi stickers for more powaaaa, "leather" handbrake boot, recarpetted with grey/black car carpet from Bunnings, sick Clarke Rubber boot mat, polished and waxed.

yea i did post a similar topic, however that was regarding the overall volume of the rear speakers. This is focussed on the Bass. Volume problem will be solved with the help of the amp thats going in there in the next few weeks.

The amp is an Alpine MRP-F300, 4 Ch Amp, 50W RMS across all 4 channels @ 4ohm.

The front speakers im looking at getting for the front are the SPL Dynamics SD6.2's. 80W RMS/160W max

Like I said mate, bridge the front speakers. Leave the rears as is. Then look at getting a bulk pack of Dynamat to seal up the cavities in the front doors as much as possible. Just be sure you get the amp tuned properly so as not to over power the speakers and cooking the,

Will you be running sub/s???
