what mp3/4 to get

Postby blitzen Bspec » Mon Mar 15, 2010 7:34 pm

just wondering guys what mp3/4 to get? mainly just want to play music, Ive got my blitzy 06 and have looked at the mac outlay facia, I know I will have to get one of those clarion boxes off ebay to get it to work and pull the stereo out. Dont know which mp3 to get. ive looked at the new cowon s9 but dont know if you can get it to work with the car, ie 3.5 jack. also another note can someone post a pic of their mac stereo from an 06, mine looks like it has 2 facias with a thin silver edging going along in between the stereo and climate control. I cant take pics for some reason, they wont up load..

If you buy the unit off eBay, it comes with an ipod cable, 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable and a 3.5mm to RCA cable from memory. Then you just control the music etc from the mp3 player. it works really well IMO

Yep, that's correct. Climate control stays in.

The two silver bits come off first then there is about 8 screws, 4 either side (possibly 6 I can't remember) then she just slides out. There are a couple of threads in how to remove the HU.

hey garbo, are you using the 'ebay' connectors as mentioned? how's it go? does it work well? are you running the leads through the ciggi compartment or somewhere else?

it works really well IMO... i have run the ipod cable up behind the steering wheel where i have an air vent holder for my iphone so i just have it on the right hand side air vent which is within reach but i am thinking about other ways of doing it as the iphone holder obviously prohibits a lot of air coming through the vent.

search the 'how to' threads for removing hu info i have to duck out for a while, although i did find a site with a few pics that may give you an idea of what i was talking about.

yeah cant find any pics, so another q if you plug in the rear pin and take out the plug for the cd i guess it means the cd doesnt work then hence pressing the c.d. button twice for the ipod, is that right

Plug for cd???

The unit just plugs into the "aux" port at the back of the HU and your mp3 acts like an external stacker I suppose you could say.

You still can listen to CDs.
