Stock 6 Stack MP3 Unit Upgrade from Std CD Player

Postby 41DZZ » Sat Dec 12, 2009 10:46 am

Hey guys.

As some of you know I just picked up my 05 2.5i. I'm loving it by the way. For now the stock speakers are good enough and I like the intergrated stock units. I just wanted to know if it's possible to get one of the 6 Stack MP3 units out of one of the higher spec models and swap it for the normal CD Player in mine? Just got a few Q's:

-What're they called(Like a model number or name that subaru gave them)?
-How much would one be?
-Where would i source one from?
-Would it plug straight into the wires that are in there for my unit?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks Guys,
Aidan.

Hey Aidan,

there is no real reason I can think of why the later model 6-stack wouldn't work, but to be honest, I'd be going aftermarket...

get something you can connect an iPod or hard disk to, and play MP3s from there... also has the benefit of being able to connect reverse cameras, and having video playback...

probably get out of it for about $1600 or so including a dash kit from JapanParts

See thats $1600 I dont have, lol. I'd rather just buy someones 6 Stack cd and plug it in. Hoping it would cost alot less than $1600. haha. Just wanna have the MP3s and do it cheap. I'm hoping someone will be selling one cheap soon :P
