Prova SI Drive Dial Cap

Postby Arith » Sat Apr 17, 2010 11:38 pm

Saw this in the latest Hyper Rev, and saw it on offer on the Prova website. So the every reliable Phatman ordered me one. I must say, I like it! :victory:

At first I thought this was a replacement dial for the centre console, but essentially it's a machined billet aluminium 'cover' that sits on top of your SI Drive dial (for those of you with SI Drive). I know most of you will think it's mainly a bling and wank mod, but it actually does provide a bit of tactile enhancement. :derisive:

The SI dial feels more solid and robust. I'm not scrunching my fingers around the dial every time I twist it. But I must admit it matches nicely with the metallic head unit dials, so it's not like it's out of place.

Top view of the cap. Quality if top notch with the knurled sides to prevent slippage.

On the flip side. Fits perfectly with no feeling of looseness.

Factory dial.

The cap sitting on the dial.

The cap covering the dial. I admit it could sit a bit lower but it doesn't look too bulky or out of place.

Looks nice and much better than the stock one! (which looks a bit cheap IMHO).

I always love the retro aluminium twist-style controls, since they not only look good but are functional.

Well it looks great Jim BUT I think this ranks right up there on the "ricer" status ;)

LOL! It's what happens when you have 2 kids to transport (used to be 3 but that one that dropped the crumbs I sold off on eBay) :P

I've never been one to be ashamed of showing a lot of rice. :D I like my rice because some things just give it your own personal touch even though they don't provide any practical functionality. Just think of it as a pendant on a necklace. Doesn't do much. Just there to accessorise and pretty things up. :P

But as I said earlier, the knurled sides and the solid feel of the aluminium provide a lot better tactile feel than the small plastic knob so it's not all blingy. :D

Rice or not who cares, it is one of those small things that if it came from the factory like it you'd be very well impressed. A nice subtle improvement.

Hope you don't get calloused fingertips from switching it all the time.

It would look nice if you had the leather for the handbrake boot redone and incorporated red stitching.

Heh-heh. Not my cup of tea. Already have issues with the red stitching in the STi seats. :D
