Liberal Albero LEDs take 2

Postby Deluded » Thu Feb 11, 2010 8:06 pm

Hi all

Finally picked up the rest of the Liberal LEDs (License plate light, brake light and blinker lights) ... all up it has costed me $450 for the lot...

What I received also includes the metal clad gadget to prevent the brake light LEDs from flashing but light up as they are suppose to.

At this stage I have not installed any as it requires a little more work other than just install the bulbs, the blinker bulbs have an additional flasher module that you use due to the LEDs being 12v, and as mentioned the one for the brake lights.

Once, I've worked out where to install I will take pics of them on .. in the mean time this is all I had time to do for pics.

Say what now?

Congrats Dan! I think you're the only forum member brave enough to fork out that much for LED's. Good luck! But I'd be interested to see how they compare in quality and longevity vs the eBay $20/pair for signal and brake lights (or even Clarence's $70 brake light LED's). Because so far I've used the eBay brake light LED's for over a year now without incident, and since converting to the LED strip for the license plate no issues there either.

I will post up Liberal's latest brochure for the LEDs, has all the pricing etc and parts. I know they are expensive but just did not want to have to continually replace bulbs....i know the ebay ones are a bit hit and miss....all I can say is that the parkers a got last time are still good and they are bright.....

I think as long as i get the installation correct they will last .... especially for the price I've bloody paid :angry2:

I should also add that they gave me a liberal sticker... all I can say is the quality of the sticker has taken my expectations (stickers) to another level....I don't really want to know how much those sticker would cost to buy...

Sorry, Danny. What I meant here was 'what the heck is that metal clad gadget'?

That's easly worth $40 in itself

Resistor pack for something. Not sure what that's necessary for, since they've given you a replacement flasher module already...

The flasher module is for the blinkers

the metal clad are for the brake lights so it wont flash when you hit the brakes... will let you know where it is suppose to install after I've worked it out

Odd, since I am (and so are many others) running LEDs for brake lights - curious to know what you mean by flashing when you step on the anchors.

No idea what that translation means, but I'm guessing some LED's for the brakes, like the ones for the signal lights, may trigger the Brake Warning on the dash as the system may think your brake lights are out due to the low resistance. Liberal has included some sort of resistor to prevent the brake warning from coming on? Good thing the LED's I bought for the brakes have built in resistors so no brake warning lights for me. :P

Well our cars don't have CANBUS for diagnosing brake light failure, do they? :P so it doens't do anything.

It's just a resistor pack to increase the current draw to fool the computer to think that a globe is still there.

sorry guys...been very busy at work so had not had time to do anything.

I got the blinkers installed and they were a b*tch to install!! and then I got a flat battery so had to sort out a replacement over the weekend.

the guy at Denlo's Parramatta was extremely helpful and had my battery replaced under warranty due to it being less than 2yrs old.
They put in a Century battery....but now due to some weird issue my alarm has decided to go to sleep so no alarm....

will take photos of the blinkers hopefully i can take it at the right time when it flashes hahahaa and show you guys the license plate one too...

have not had time to deal with the brake lights yet .... will do so hopefully soon.... also have not had a chance to take a photo of the liberty sticker but you guys should be able to see it in the brochure... I'm still deciding on location for the Liberal sticker as I don't want people to misinterpret my politcal views (which is none LoL)

in summary

you'll need tiny girly hands to be able to reach to the housing for the blinkers in the front. its not easy to reach in as it is on the side quarter panel....the back obviously was the easiest and the flasher module was even easier as it was a straight replacement

I had not taken any photos as it was done at work on a Friday afternoon....but will however show you the end result hopefully soon, for the guys in Sydney ... I'll try and attend the next meet

cheers y'all
