Paint Damage

Hey guys, when i bought my car the roof and bonnet had pretty bad paint damage, I'm not sure if one of the previous owners cut the paint and was stupid or something else has damaged it. What I'm wondering is if its possible to repair this damage? or will i be easier off living with it?

These are some pics of the damage, as you can sorta see the paint seems warn and sorta dull, iv tried polishing it and it doesn't seem to really do anything. But I could be being noob and ust haven't found the right polish/wax to use to try and fix it.
Also note: all the paint scratches were there before i bought the car haha.. Whoever has owned this car previously, has no idea how to clean a car.

Damn mate that is some very bad paint

I'd haphazard a guess and say that it looks like the clear coat may actually be worn through in some areas? You should take it to a professional detailer who can measure your paint thickness and tell you for sure. If it is the case there is no option but to respray the affected panels. Otherwise a very heavy cutting compound and extensive restoration may save those panels but you'll really need to care for the panels well since the paint would become extremely thin and you won't be able to cut it again.

Looks like the car may have been the victim of some very bad industrial fallout over its lifetime?

ahh i guess ill ust live with it. It doesn't faze me heaaaps. It would be nice if there was a way to fix it but as long as the car goes and isnt falling apart then its all good! haha

Definately looks like the clear is badly damaged, you cant really try and buff it up as there probably isn't even enough to buff up. The only thing you can do is get them repainted
