JDM grill on Aussie Lib

G'Day folks. I am new to the forum but have been reading it since I bought my MY04 Liberty GT Sedan 2 years ago. I thought it was about time I joined...

I had hoped to post in the "Introductions" area first but do not have any photos of my ride to put there at the moment. Mods to date have been performance-oriented (except for some rims and plates) and I am now after some affordable bling. A grill on JapanParts caught my eye (item no. 107-007-004). Of course, the grill is JDM and the company does not guarantee that it will fit an Aussie Lib. I would like to ask those with experience in these things whether this grill will fit my car. I have seen some beautiful cars on this forum with JDM grills but I have noticed that the owners often also install JDM bumpers. I am therefore a little hesitant about purchasing this item to install on a stock ADM body.

Cheers.

Except for Tangcla, I don't know of anyone who's crazy enough to swap over to a JDM bumper. :D

What grill are you after? Can you post pics of it? Is it mesh? Honeycombe? But we're quite compatible with the JDM grills, but being a MY04-MY06, you'll have to be very careful on what model and year you select as the pre-face lifts had quite a few variations.

But have you browsed through the selection offered by our commercial vendors? I thought some of their aftermarket grills weren't too bad.

Here is the link to the grill product page:

http://www.japanparts.com/db/parts_detail.php?NUMBER=00010891&VOLUME=107-007-004&DEALER=1&CAR=6&MIDDLE=2&SMALL=11&MAKER=5&VOLKEY=&SEARCH_DEALER=1&SEARCH_CAR=6&SEARCH_MIDDLE=2&SEARCH_SMALL=11&SEARCH_MAKER=5&SEARCH_VOLKEY=&SEARCH_page=2&submit.x=75&submit.y=7

I was pretty keen on the Ultrex carbon fibre grill but am not so sure now - I photoshopped it onto a photo of my white Lib and couldn't convince myself there was a cosmetic improvement. That style just seemed a bit 'empty'. Looks great on black libs though.

That grill is a bit busy for my taste, but it should fit your MY04 GT.

There's two versions, one for the 3.0R and the JDM Spec.B, and the other version for the 'standard' GT front bumper. Make sure you order the right one.

+1

Be very careful with the Corazon. The lower lip extends all the way out to the edge of the bumper. Not sure about the pre-facelifts, but on the post-facelifts the Spec-B bumpers are about 10mm longer than the standard ones.

Found this out the hard way as I sold TorpedoCreative my Corazon grill made for the Spec-B bumper and it wouldn't fit his standard bar.

Yes, the grill is busy. I didn't expect to like it but for some reason it works when Photoshopped onto my car. Mind you, I'm only using mobile phone photos - I'd better dig up a proper pic and mess around with it. That Corazon grill does look pretty sweet...

Drug money. :P the one I have fits your front bumper... but Patrick wants first dibs if ever I sell it, haha.

I think the grille is about $450ish delivered, unpainted.

Yes, perhaps this would be the best choice:

Cheaper than the Corazon and not too busy!

That grill should work with the ADM models.

Just need to make sure it's for the standard model, not the Spec B (Which they had in the pre-face lift in Japan).

If you want my opinion on the grill, I think it's a bit poxy... You'd be better off looking at the Sport Grill Subaru sold locally... Not as unique, but it's a good looking grill :D
