Rear bumper

Ok, i know alot of people dont like them, but i really do. Im not sure of the techincal name, but im talking about the fake "air intake" looking things on the back of the facelifted libs. One on each side, sits below the tail lights.

What i want to know is, with the new tail lights/back bumper did the shape change? If i was to purcahse a set of these things, could they be simply cut into my back bumper? Or is it a different shape between the facelifted and pre facelifted? Also, are they mounted on some kind of bracket? Or just held on with an adhesive?

I just think they make the back look more aggressive.

Thanks

Facelifted taillights are smaller than pre-facelift.

No they can't, the vent things are mounted onto the bumper and the bumper itself has the allocations for these to clip into.

Also, the bumper itself has a recess where the vents are - would be really hard to do on a pre facelift.

I'm one of the pple that don't like these and have been trying to find ways to patch them up!

Having talked to a couple of blokes, you should be able to switch the bumpers and lights between the cars.

The lights in the facelift model are shorter, and therefore the bumper comes up further. However the body underneath it all appears to be the same shape.

So, in theory you could remove the lights and bumper on a pre and post facelift model and switch them around. I'm now sure what you would have to do to the wiring for the lights, but I would be surprised if there was a change.

I've actually looked at this a couple of years ago but its not worth it for the cost involved (and also for me, it would be going backwards in model/body style) - lights are around $400ish each, bumber was around 480ish plus paint.

The mounting for the bumpers and the lights are a bit different but thats an easy fix.

I could be mistaken, those aren't just red reflectors in the USDM models, they are actually rear fog lights.

In any case, I know you can get rear fog lights from Japan that replace those vents :D

If I had a face-lifted Gen 4 sedan, that's what I would be trying to source 8)

Is the wiring loom in place for the fog lights? I assume the switch for the rear fogs is down on the panel with the mirrors and dash illumination?

I'd hook up the rear foglights as brake lights :D

Unsure to be honest (Since I don't have a face-lifted Gen 4, nor do I have a SEDAN :P heheheheheheheh).

I'm leaning towards it not being there as I know all the wiring for the heated mirrors & folding mirrors is not there in the ADM models (I'm pretty sure :P )

If you like Rod, I reckon we should pull off Mr Senators rear bar & have a good look... Might find bits of Wakefield in there as well... heheheheheheh
