My journey to grilling - 3.0RB

Postby pplwu » Fri Jul 31, 2009 12:05 am

Hi all,

I received my grill today (ordered a while ago) and only found out that I might have ordered the wrong one. See my car is a pre-face lifted 3.0RB however the one that came had a label saying JDM 2004-2006 mm.. wait a minute...

Comparison to my existing grill

See how it is narrower than the stock grill??

I really don't think my car has a JDM version of front bar! But hell with it because I am just so overwhelmed that the grills and eyelids arrived so why not try it on

Results..

Do you see that gap? Do you!!?? why oh why!!!?!

One thing that is interesting tho is that I have Darren (drndrn)'s old grill here with me and that fitted the car pretty good so did that just proved that I can now go and buy a 07+ CF Grill and expect that it will fit onto my 3.0RB PRE-Face lifted? I am interested to confirm this answer from my fellow 3.0RB friends who had similar experience.

Anyway, here it is, I guess I learnt it the hard way and I might just keep doing it until I finally get it right, so I have a brand NEW CF Grill for JDM 2004-2006 Subaru Liberty. I will gladly exchange it with you with cash or a CF Grill that suits me :)

Regards
Patrick

:?: I don't see anything wrong Patrick! Grill looks fine on your car! ..... LOL!

Sorry, didn't mean to laugh at your misery. Sorry to hear about the wrong grill being sent! But technically the seller was correct. You said your car is a pre-facelift, which is MY04-MY06. And that's what the seller sent you. Did you specify that you had the 3.0, which uses a larger grill than the other models?

Anyway, hopefully you'll get the correct grill soon. But yes, the MY04-MY06 3.0 should have the same grill as the MY07+ models.

Patrick, your grille and mine (pre-facelift JDM spec.B) are different to the regular pre-facelift front bar. Our grille is longer than the regular Liberties here.

Surely a bit of putty should fix that gap?
