Well just wondering if theres any seat rails i can get for a set of evo 7 recaros to fit in the lib? I happen to have come in contact with a really cheap set so trying to find out what is needed to fit in my car

Yes, contact Phat. You need the the seat rails and a terminator cap for the airbag sensor.

It's an option or standard on new vehicles for starters. Some cars have them some don't. Where as seat belts are compulsory on ALL cars for example.

I'd say removing a seatbelt is definitely illegal, cause no seatbelt and you can't pass a rego inspection.

No stock seat airbags..... I think you would be still ok to pass a rego inspection.

i recall you "should" have a engineering cert for seats.

I'd be getting a engineers opinion, IMO it would be illegal as they are a major safety feature of the car & the car was designed to have them fitted, since it is standard equipment & not an option on our cars i really don't think it would go down well. If it was an option you may get away with it

Try telling that to your insurance company or to your RTA/TAC if something should go wrong...

well if you cant have them and the price is right i would be interedted in taking them, if thats ok.

yeah if seats got airbags.. think it becomes illegal.. same thing with steering wheel.. if got airbag.. u cannot change it to some race spec with out an airbag

By 'race spec' you mean a fully sik Monza or Autotechnica one, right?

yea i have a funny feeling you cant even get an engineers cert for it... as your removing a safety feature.. which is effectively making the car less safe so noone would approve it.

and lol to the fully sik race wheels, my dad has to tell countless people every week they cant order some because its illegal to remove the airbag in the wheel. so id be 99% sure its the same for seats.

you can remove the seat airbag thing
or the steering wheel airbag

as long as you are happy to pay $200,000.00 to get the vehicle test and end up with a scrap heap.

I spoke to both the RTA & an engineer before I swapped my seats over.

As far as the RTA is concerned, as long as you have an engineering certificate, they don't care...

The only thing the engineer looks for is that the new seat rails are strong enough to prevent the seat from moving (I have never seen a set that didn't ) & checks to see if the seat belt function is obstructed.

Sooo, if your new choice of seats are coming out of another road car, then you should be fine... But if you were putting a race seat into you car, then you would more then likely have issues as they are designed to use a race harness, not a standard style seat belt (In most cases).

I know all insurance companies are different, but generally speaking as long as you have an engineering certificate which is essentually stating that it's road legal, they don't have a problem.
