Window Tint/Privacy Glass questions...

Postby TBSTI-Wagon » Fri Oct 27, 2017 10:43 am

Figured "cosmetics" was as good a place as any for this, so here goes.

We have an '08 TBSTI wagon, and are going through the process of getting it road worthied/registered. Turns out the PO put a nice tint all-round, including over the Privacy glass at the rear of the car. That meant the rear windows from driver back were almost impossible to look in, and the front was dark (too dark), but a bit lighter than the rest...no issues with visibility out of the car, but the rules are the rules, so the tint had to go.

Have had the tint removed, with the result being that we have privacy glass from passenger windows back, and clear drivers and passenger windows.

So, to the questions:

1) Is there privacy glass fitted to any of the Gen4 Liberties? (Assume that sedans and wagons are the same back to B pillar...???)
2) In the event that privacy glass wasn't ever fitted to the fronts, am I "stuck" with just getting a 35% tint on the fronts, and "wearing" the difference?

I'd appreciate any advice, so I can plan the next (post-rego) steps.

TIA.

1 - Yes, think it's face-lift and on, so MY07+.

2 - No cars have privacy glass on the fronts, so 35% (or whatever is allowed) is it.
Can put literally black on the qtr's and rear screen thou...

i am not sure that privacy glass is fitted on some Gen4 Liberties ... but window tint is better then privacy glass and in my opinion window tinting is best option for your car . . and also no cars have privacy glasses in front , hence 35% is that. You can put literally black on the qtr and the back screen . for more details about tint percentage, checkout [spammy link removed] as they have covered everyting ..

That site just seems to list rules in each US State. What relevance does that have to Australia?
