Can you change Gen4 pre-facelift to post-facelift?

Postby 30RSPECB » Fri Dec 25, 2015 2:18 pm

Hey Guys, Merry Christmas!!

I've been thinking that I'd like to freshen up my 2004 3.0R specB Wagon. Has anyone updated their Lib to the 06-09 post-facelift style? How easy/hard is it?

I could be ignorant, but I was thinking it would just be the bumpers and skirts?

Thanks

Then you can start on the interior?
And maybe also the steering wheel adjustment?

Yep ENTIRE interior, both bumpers, head and tail lights, fenders, grille....WOFTAM.

A JDM Spec B bumper would be a great alternative. Looks almost as good as the PostFL bumper, but no need to change lights/fenders (grille might fit too?) and is rare enough to still get e-fame points in AUS :)

IMO you'd be better off selling your pre for a post.

Haha sounds like a lot of trouble, thanks for the info guys!

At the least, I'd like to change the side skirts as I'm not a fan of the Spec B chrome trim.

And any idea where I can get a mesh grill for the pre-facelift that doesn't look cheap?

As others have said, ton of work and not worthwhile. If you really want the updated one just get it but to me at least the pre-facelift cars are the cleaner design, I much prefer them to the facelifted ones, although neither are bad.

Agreed. Is it possible to get a mesh grill for the pre-facelift?

Even looking at the Ultrex ones, they say they don't do 3.0R, so I'm guessing it's GT only. I think the only thing I don't like about my Spec.B is the "chrome" accents on the grill and skirts.

Yeah, there's a number of options from japanparts, as well as DIY mesh, and the simplest option - plastidip your grille black.

mick did it about 4 years ago. Just the exterior though.

Please stay away from Ultrex grills :)

I'm interested in this because I have a 2008 liberty and also a 2005 liberty which had a front end collision.

Now I was thinking of taking the front end parts off of my 2008 liberty and putting them on the 2005.

Then updating the 2008 lib with a CF bonnet and maybe an aftermarket front bar.

Just not sure where to pick these up without paying too much (import monster?)..

Just had a look on Japan Parts, there is a lot of stuff on there!

The child in me was drawn to this, not sure if it would fit https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/12468

Could I not just get a GT front bumper from wreckers and then have more options for the grill? Not seeing much for the 3.0R

Could always go DIY, a good weekend project. I made my mesh grille
