18s V 19s

Postby jezzm » Mon Oct 05, 2015 5:05 pm

Hey everyone.
So I've been wanting to put a new set of wheels on my car have been having a bit of a look around.
I can get a decent set of rims in 18s installed for around $1000 but if I want 19s that i actually like and decent tires I'm looking at about $2500 with install and that's being very looked after by my bosses friend.
I'm just wondering what everyone thinks in regards to how much better 19s look over 18s and if the extra $1500 is justifiable.

I have 19's and I think there is no way that the difference is worth $1500.

My honest opinion is get some second hand 19s. That way it's not crazy expensive and also keep in mind it's a car and not a show car. So you'll hit a pot hole or something eventually.

I'd stick with 18's myself. Besides 19's looking a bit better you'll go backwards in every other area including acceleration, braking, cornering, power, tyre choice and expense, fuel economy etc etc.

Very good point. I think I'll go with 18s. At least that way I can keep my Potenzas that only have 6000ish Kms on them that the last owner of the car put on them :D

Definitely go the 18s. The tyre choices/brands/prices also makes a considerable difference in that size also. I procrastinated with 19s for months but could not justify the huge price increase for decent tyres. Agree that handling does suffer with 19's if that is what you are into as well. I read somewhere that 18's is the biggest you want to go when racing/handling is your primary concern.
