Paint chip respray cost?

Postby Veldex » Thu Aug 06, 2015 10:15 am

Hey lads,

I was driving along and some delinquent schoolkid threw a metallic pen at my car while I was turning at a roundabout. It has left a chip in the paint (little but noticeable due to the nature of the paint), but It has taken off the clearcoat and the pearlescent layer, but not the basecoat so as far as I can tell, it shouldn't rust (Not that it isn't on the roof, but i'll leave that for another post).

I don't like the idea of doing a touch up due to the fact it will more than likely look like crap and I was planning on taking it to be professionally resprayed (Just the door panel) and I was looking for a ballpark on cost. The colour is the pearlescent white.

Thanks guys.

That colour is expensive and takes a true professional to keep it small and look right

Yeah. When I bought it Subaru did the bonnet as a condition of purchase and they were complaining it was going to cost just under a grand.
