Hey guys,

I bought a GT Liberty about a month ago now and just in the process of getting some scratches repaired on various panels.
One issue i have is that there is a rust spot on the roof, about half size of a 5cent which i was told by mobile panel repair guys that they don't do any roof work (which sucks!)
So does anyone have an suggestion to slow down this rusting (something i can put on it maybe) or possible recommended repairers in Brisbane.

thanks! Steve

My 30 year old Merc had quite a lot of rust, so I know this well. The easiest is using Rust Converter. It's something every car supply shop sells (Repco/Supercheap etc). There are all sorts of brands that make it. You need to remove any loose surface rust (doesn't look like you have much). Then, depending on the instructions, you apply it with a brush and it converts the rust into a stable compound which won't keep spreading and can then be painted with touchup paint (unless you want t get it proesionally done). Just make sure you scrape away at the paint around the edge until you see bare metal areas, because you'd be surprised how often then rust has spread under the remaining paint.

I would suggest covering it with something like plasti-dip in the mean time, but I do not know how the surrounding paint will like it currently being damaged.

Toothpick in a dremel to clear the rust out gently, then treat the bare metal with rust converter or anti rust primer, eg with corrosion inhibitor...

yep exactly what i did :-)
I ordered some paint from this place - http://www.drcolorchip.com.au/
worked out well in the end. Unfortunately trying to match a Satin Pearl is impossible.
