got the mesh on ebay. just search 'grill mesh'. I got mine from seller 'superior-gooz'. from memory i paid $38 plus postage for a sheet big enough to do two grills.

I agree with BBB, lower opening would be good.


I've started with mine, fitting some black expanded aluminium mesh behind the grill and some to go into the lower opening, but I prefer the look of yours.

Yeah im keen to see what the lower opening would look like with mesh. I think for it to work the mesh would need to be either in line with the grill mesh or the foglight mesh. Both options would require some of the inner portion of the opening to be removed so that the mesh can me attached to the back. Would be ideal for someone with a fmic to give it a go as the cutting is already done.

Looks great man! I was trawling the net for a grille this morning but came across this, exactly the look I wanted.

Ordered mesh from Ebay, going to do grille and the lower spotlight and air intake on my K2 gear front bar. I'll try to remember to post back to give you guys an idea of the look.

That spare bumper is available for a mockup session for another month or so if we can arrange a time at yours, Ben

Not the best picture but while I had my K2 gear front bar off to re-fibreglass and paint I fit some of the same ebay honeycomb mesh to it and Plastidip/meshed the grille. Came out as I'd hoped, thanks for the original pic to inspire me to do it.
Only downside as opposed to your regular mesh, is this pretty much doesn't bend at all, so you can't bend and adhesive it in like the Autobarn stuff. So I bought some aluminium strap from bunnings, cut it to small 10cm lengths, right angle bent them and fibreglass them in so the mesh would have something I could bolt it to to keep in place. (The green tape is to protect the new paint (this mesh thing was an afterthought after painting , and the white tape was just to hold it in place while fibreglassing, so it obviously came off after)

wanting to do this to an old grill.
noticed the mesh comes in different sized holes, not sure what size your guys holes are? Can you measure approx hole sizes? Thanks.
got to get the chome off the grill it bubbled, that's why I got the new one and it's starting to do the same

inside diameter of honeycomb holes measures approx 32mm wide x 13mm high

here's how mine turned out, i opted for removing the inner step of the grill and having the mesh right behind the chrome
