Vinyl decal on spoke of rim.....?

Postby driscoll_86 » Sat May 03, 2014 9:34 pm

Come up with an idea of sprucing up my stock 18 inch rims with this decal;

Was thinking of running it on one of the spokes. Thought the grey would match nicely with my paint. Eventually I'm going to repair and repaint my rims and I would probably paint clear over the decal to give it some protection and prevent it from peeling.

What the general consensus? Yay or Nay??

Cheers

I've seen it done before. With the right sticker and colour, it can look quite tasteful. I say go for it.

Don't worry about going clear over it - just leave it exposed directly, that way you can remove it if you decide it doesn't work. Don't worry about it peeling either - a proper vinyl sticker applied to a properly clean surface and flattened heavily with strong finger pressure will last for years.

I've had two-layer vinyl sticker centre caps with no clear, on top on my wheels for two years now and they're yet to peel or show any sign of damage despite dozens of high-pressure car washes.

Most of the people on the forum will say no...

But who cares, it's your car, do what you want with it. I say do it, try something different

Cheersbeforeyfor the advice HyRax. Their fairly inexpensive soI'll do as you suggest and just apply it without a clear spray so I can romove them if [edit] they look rubbish.

SH30RB I'm all for people having their opinion whether it's for or against it. I'd rather be told it's a stupid idea by fellow members on here before looking like a goose on the road.

Cheers.
