Matte Black Grill?

Postby nicklawrence » Sat Dec 28, 2013 12:39 pm

Hey guys,

New poster and new Liberty owner. I've got a cracked grill, which is the standard for me MY07 GEN4 liberty, and want to find a new one in matte black, I can only find silver and carbon copies online.

Where is the best place to purchase? or am I best to buy a silver and get it sprayed?

Thanks!

Are you looking for an OEM replacement/mesh or aftermarket mesh?

You'll probably have to paint it (which can be a little tricky with the chrome). Or look into vinyl wrapping it. I did the centre section on mine to see what it'd look like and it's held up really well.

I think ideally replacement, I love the look just in matte.

Otherwise I'll just buy a grill with matte outer and mesh, and put the badging on myself?

I did my standard Spec B honeycomb one with a can of plastidip and it cam up really well. Much easier than trying to paint the chrome or vinyl wrap it.

ended up doing this, worked an absolute treat, was cheap and quick to do. Stoked.

Now to find the rims to match!

Also did the rear chrome step protector. The chrome was looking a little sad but it looks heaps better now.

Tits are good, yeah?

Some won't like it but, meh, wanted something different and was trying to match it with the black and silver check sections of the sill/scratch plates.

It's just about dark here now so I'll take some more shots tomorrow. Other than some "sticker tuning" it's just a stock JDM Spec B at the moment.
