... I ordered this JDM front lip from importmonster a while back and it finally arrived. It needed some TLC but has come up pretty well. A few stone chips to touch up and it will be looking the goods even more...

Edit: Here is a 'before shot' the night I got it. It was covered in white marks, scrapes and scratches as you can see... about 3 hours of effort is what got it to the condition of the shot below this one...

Sorry about the dodgy pic quality but it was done on my phone. You may note the ebay mesh grille too. I reckon when I put the coilovers in it's going to look great.

Heh-heh. Kevin you should consider doing a post like Dave's Journal, where you can track all the mods happening with your car.

Because it's pretty cool watching it slowly transform from standard issue to something of your own work of art.

I buffed them out by hand. Took about 2 1/2 hours to get the marks out (almost completely) and then I polished it as well. My shoulder is buggered from the effort too !

Spoiler looks good, and I like those grilles too.....but I hate the look of the number plate half in the intake. I double mounted mine (small plate) so its exactly in the width of the bumper. YMMV.

Would you have any pics? I've thought about doing that myself because I always thought it looked weird half and half.

I reckon it won't be long until I get a slimline plate (in black and white) for the front. I am not a fan of that look either but considering it will cost me close to $100 to change the plates over the government can suck my... well, they can wait a little longer - not a priority.

You need a piece of wood or alloy thick enough to sink the original bolt head into, or find a countersunk bolt to fit the built in threads. Make a piece exactly the same size as the plate less enough so a plate cover's screws will miss it (ie ~5mm less each end), with holes for small screws at the top of the plate (or bottom as well). Then work out where to mount the plate to the bumper so none of it will stick down into the air intake below, and drill all the way through for the thread size, and part way through bigger to clear the bolt head. I used a hard 6mm ply with a plasticised skin as used by garage door people, as its dense and hard, and waterproof. Painted the edges flat black.
