Metallic paint in a spray can

So the paint on the spoiler on my wagon is faded and in need of repainting. The car came with a tin of DuPont paint and Id like to have a crack myself but want some advice first.

Now obviously using a compressor/spray gun is the ideal way however I don't have one at home yet. Would having the paint/thinners mixed into a spray can and then having a can of clear still give me an acceptable result? Prep is key with painting I know but I'd rather not pay someone to do this for me unless absolutely necessary. All advice welcome!

Remove the spoiler yourself take it to a paint and panel shop. $200 should have it professionally painted

That's what I was thinking but I want to get a can done anyway so I can colour code the mudflaps.

I thinking having it wrapped will look to different against the car.

Test your paint method on material similar to your spoiler, if you like the results then paint the spoiler.

Give it a go, its not that hard.

As said, prep is the key. Make sure you get some 2K clear and after painting, go heavy with it as you can cut it later.

Being able to bake it after painting is ideal or leave it out in the hot sun after its touch dry for a day before installing. Cut and polish a week or two later.

This rim is painted by myself with spray cans mixed at an auto paint shop in 2k not polished, straight out of the can.

Yeah nice. I want to do the mudflaps as well so I might use them as a tester before I do the spoiler.

Would 1500 wet and dry be ok for prep?

I wouldnt go any finer than 600. No need.

You will have to plastic prime the mudflaps first if theyre plain plastic.
