Been tossing up if this is a good move or not. The car looks better without them, but are the mudflaps doing their job in protecting the paint from stone chips etc?

Also if I polished under the area where the mudflaps sat, will the paint come up ok?

Mine are staying on. They don't stand out and certainly don't take away from the car at all. Plus they seem to work pretty well at stopping dirty water getting all over the sides of the door

Colour code them!
I wish I had mudflaps on mine from the start....the skirt behind my front wheel looks somewhat sandblasted by stone chips.

If you did take them off, polishing that area of panel would come up nicely.

Cheers guys. Stone chips are inevitable regardless but do you think the mudflaps are too small to do an significant protecting?

yeah, i like the look from the back with no flaps, but i want to protect the doors and sill a bit better.
most stuff at the back just gets shot out anyway

Interesting idea. But I would be more inclined to be all in, or take them all off completely. I understand why you did yours that way but Im not sure how it would look on my sedan.

Does anyone have spare mud flaps that they want to pass or sell?

I prefer non colour coded and need for a 2006 wagon.

Well I would say it depends on how you use your car... if you are a weekend warrier that only drives to the shopping center on weekends and maybe the odd track day, i would say no need. If your ride is a daily driver or you do lots of long distance driving then I would say on for sure. Frankly i wish the subaru mudflaps were more effective.. other vehicles i have owned have been superior in this respect, the difference quite clear in the side skirts and lower door panels and the amount of work needed to keep them in what i consider an acdeptable condition... the downside being some may feel the appearance less appealing than without... horses for courses...

Check the local laws in your state first as I'm 99% certain that in QLD it is a legal requuirement to have mudflaps fitted to your vehicle. No one wants a defect fine for something so trivial! I'd just colour code them. Thinking that's what I might do with mine.
