Melting plastic vs carbon fibre

Postby t.renshaw34 » Tue Nov 06, 2012 10:46 pm

So I'm looking into a diffuser for the rear end...

I'm running 2.5" quad tips and I have melted some of the plastic around the muffler tip cut outs.

I'm wondering if carbon fibre will have a better chance of standing up to the heat of the muffler tips compared to plastic?

Thoughts?

The plastic will most likely be PP which melts at 130 degrees, carbon fibre resin should resist the heat considerably better

All depends on what resin is used. Heatproof one might be ok but the diffuser will more than likely get closer to the exhaust than your stock diffuser.
