Diffuser for pre-facelift

Postby bradr » Mon Apr 30, 2012 9:41 pm

Looking around for body kits and the like and came across a rear diffuser I really like and the picture they had was attached to a team blue. I really like the look of the diffuser and the car is none-too-shabby either - I'm thinking of modelling mine along these lines, I reckon.

Cheers,

bj

Yer me too!!

I'm waiting for the guy who makes these in the US to find out how it goes on a JDM bumper. He knows someone over there who bought a diffuser and also has a JDM bumper. Once we know it fits, I've suggested we do a group buy from him.

I'll put up a new thread once I know more.

cheers,

bj

Anymore pics of that car & diffuser ? Looks to be a better fit then the other diffusers that have been made for the pre face lift Lib.

I think I have created a monster that I can no longer control.

I do have some more pics but I'll get in touch with the guy in the US first before I lead everyone on too much (as well as totally hijack this thread).

cheers,

bj

Michael,

Try http://www.japanparts.com

Do a search for Subaru>Legacy BP/BL 2003-2005 (Liberty)>Aero Parts

It's a CyberR spoiler.

I wouldn't mind getting one myself so if you're looking at getting one, and you can't source them locally (ask Phat, maybe?) then maybe we could find out about getting a few over in the one hit.

cheers,

bj

Was going my usual boredom surf of legacygt.com and found this. Is this where you saw it Brad?

G'day Liam,

Yes, that's the one. I've been in touch with the guy about getting some shipped over here but he doesn't like to reply.

The last I heard from him was that he knows a guy in California with a JDM car who has bought one. He was going to ask this guy how the fitment went and then, if it worked, I was going to ask around on here if anyone else wanted one, too. But he's gone to ground on me. He's also a member on here and goes by the same name on here as on legacygt.com.

Try him, if you like, and see if you have more success than I did.

I must admit, though, I'm really disappointed with this car and have lost interest in doing it up so I'm thinking to just keep it stock and get rid of it when I've finished spending money everywhere else.

cheers,

bj

How so? Think you should have bought the turbo instead or something?

At the risk of hijacking the thread, it's just lots of little things and not related to performance - that's the only area where I'm happy with it.

The seating and the seating position are by far the most uncomfortable I have ever had in any car - I'm still yet to find a seating position that I like. The dash controls are fiddly, the steering wheel and SW controls are terrible and it's lots of other little things that I've picked up from driving it for extended periods to the point where the smallest thing wrong happens now and I hate the car even more.

And getting body parts to fit a 3.0R-SpecB, apart from being hard to find, are also expensive when I do find them. No cheap options for this baby.

I love Subys and this is the fourth one I have owned but it really is a significant downgrade from the last, non-Subaru car that I had when, on paper, it should have been an upgrade.

I had more fun driving my old MY99 Impreza which I owned for 10 years because I didn't want to part with it. Now I have more fun driving the ute.

So, once I've finished spending money on other projects, I'll have a look at the post-facelift Gen4 and see if I can do better (I can't bring myself to even look at Gen 5s). Otherwise it's either another Impreza or it's off to find another brand.

cheers,

bj
