Hey guys!

Im lookin into gettin HID's installed in my lib. Now before you say go look here or there... i have, and finding info for my Gen3 came up null... lol so many gen4's
So Shane may be the best help on this? (i dont know wat type of bulbs you have, however) ...or a supplier?

either i buy some new ones or, my mate is gettin rid of his old ones from his pulsar (lol) (he upgraded to an s2k). they're Narva (good/bad? (he bought em for 400big ones a yr or 2 ago)). 9500k (so blue (opinion?)). they're H4, does that fit my 00RX gen3?
and wuld the angle need to be re-aligned on em?

also, ive heard from all over the joint that HID's need the projector style cover to make em look any good. Opinions?

...or wuld i be better off goin for some other blue/white bulbs xenon or halogen?? (keep in mind, my mate is givin them to me for 100..)

thanks heaps :)

Hid's in reflectors are ghey.
9500k is reallyyyyy PURPLE and ghey, even 6000k is blue.
white bulbs xenon or halogen are alright but they loose sight going above about 4300k.

Look at retrofitting a projector lens as shown above for win, win.

9500k.....far out that would look silly.

Isn't 10000k the legal limit too? Imagine the amount of cops pulling you over seeing a reflector headlight housing with bloody purple light flying out of it in all directions!

It will be illegal to run them as you don't have a headlight washer or auto levelling system, so if your worried about changing the angle on the globes, don't even bother. It's just going to be reflecting at every angle for other drivers anyway.

Hi mate, you can't buy your mates ones because they won't fit your Lib. Gen3's use H7's for the low-beams. Also 9500K is an almost purple/pinkish colour. Are you sure thats what he had? They would stand out so much, and honestly I can't recall seeing something of that colour anytime recently. Also - don't be paying more than $200 for a set of brand new ones. You can get good ones for <$100 and very good ones for about $180.

Yes angle would need to be brought down a bit to compensate for the brighter and further light output.

Finally, HID's don't need the projector style lens to "look good" They need them to distribute the light properly and not blind on-coming drivers. Gen3's have those older style reflector lens, and when you put HID's in them, the light distribution isn't that great. Although you can get away with it. I got projectors and HID's in my Gen3 and the light distribution and cutoff is clear, and you'd think it was a factory fitted (legal) job.

Not sure if theres a legal limit per say. But certainly, the law states that blue lights are reserved for exclusive use by emergency vehicles only. So one could argue about 8000K+ would be a limit of sorts...

I'm pretty sure the ADR has a limit of 8000 or 10000k from when I was reading it a while ago. And by reading I mean skimming through the hundred page long PDF of boringness.

Wow so you could get away with 8000's? Wouldn't be worth it IMO. Less light output! But looks pretty neat 8)

I'm looking at a video on youtube of some 30000k blue ones.....light output is an absolute joke.

Song isn't doing this person any favours either.

HID produces a natural color of 4100K to 6000K (4100K is daylight white, and 6000K is slightly bluish white) Anything bluer requires the use of light-dimming gases. That's right the light is actually 6000K but there is less xenon gas, a filter or colored glass that converts the light to the higher temperature color.

Holy crap those headlights are shit, no wonder he's going so slow. I'd be scared too driving at faster than 10kph at night with no headlights
