upgrade to 19" rims

hi everyone
currently running a liberty 3.0RB with the standard factory 18" rims, and i am considering upgrading to 19".
i currently really like the ride quality with the billstein suspension and 18" rims - firm and good handling but not too firm, after all i live in sydney and drive on our crappy roads everyday.
however 19" rims would really look great.

the question i have is if i upgrade to 19" will this alter the current feel of the ride and make it too uncomfortable for sydney roads... has anyone out there performed a similar upgrade, and if so what are your thoughts?

thanks
:D

Yes IMO it would. I upgrade from 17's to 18's and the ride was harsher.

Probably not on this forum because we prefer to keep things stock.

Yes, just recently and yes definitely. the wider wheel coupled with the lower profile of tyre changed the feel of the car. But i suppose youve got to take the good with the bad.

Don't be lame... The ride is marginally harsher, but you will be used to it within a week...

+1

After a week or two, I hardly notice my ride now.

But moving from 18" to 20" is a bit extreme, and you should expect a different ride from 30-series tires.

However, 19" is still quite tolerable, especially if you get the right tire. Some tires are meant for extreme handling so the side wall will be very stiff. However some tires do offer pretty good ride comfort. The only time you'll realise you have thin tires is over sharp bumps. But a good suspension setup is helpful in maintaining a decent ride. I was expecting the worst when I first moved into 19's, especially coming from 17's. But I was pleasantly surprised (just like coilovers).
