Stock airbox and stock engine cover moulds to be made in CF would be fairly popular I imagine?

Depnds. If you have a part you want to copy, yes it is certainly a LOT easier. It then depends on the complexity of the shapes. If they have alot of return angles (that is if you were to mould the part, would you be able to pull it back out?) then it will require multi part moulds. The more parts, the more work, more cost etc...

Also someone would need to supply the original part to pull the mould off. But this is definately the cheapest way to get the parts you want.

For example, I will be pulling out my grill and making a mould off of the original part for my next item.

May I suggest starting a post about the airboxes and see what interest we get?

F1Pilot wrote: Im sure if there is enough interest in ANY particular parts, that we can make the moulds for them. Its all up to a matter a mould cost. If there is plenty of interest, any mould can be made and the cost absorbed into the cost of each part. Of course if there is only one or two parts ordered, they would be very expensive, or it would cost us money.

I took the gamble with this one and paid for everything myself, because I really wanted to make my own lip.

Sorry about not answering that question earlier, didnt realise I missed that! So if you guys want a part in carbon or fibreglass, or kevlar post it up and we will try to get some interest going.

For info, aluminum inserts can be made into parts, and we also have the ability to make structual components, even up to the stage of using aluminium and Nomex honeycomb. Hope this help guys.

Dude, you've opened the can now mate - you'll get hammered about what to make!! Hmmm, get's me thinking... I'll be in touch!

Cheers

Cool. Well the grill will be next for sure. If anyone knows the cost of carbon ones, please share. Would definately like to keep costs down as much as possible, but in the end it costs what it costs to do it properly.

The grill I will be making is for the 3.0RB 05 model. If anyone wants any other parts made, start a post and see how much interest we can get for whichever part. Also someone might have a spare part to donate to make the moulds off of.

If I'm not mistaken, the pre facelift 3RB grill was the same size as the facelifted cars

Hey Gary,

I hope things are progressing well for that carbon fibre lip. I'm curious to know how you're going to attach/mount this to the front bumper when it's completed ?

Cheers,
Lok

Hey guys,

I will supply these unpainted, so you can have them clear coated or painted colour.

At this stage the plan is to use rivnuts/nutserts into the old holes that are used for the clips which hold the bottom of the bar up. However I will soon find out if its the way to go or not when I fit it. Will keep you guys informed. We are laminating the part tommorrow, so should have the part to fit up on Monday night.

Hey guys,

ITS OUT OF THE MOULD. YEY!!!

The first cure is always a worry, wondering whether all that cash and effort you just spent will go to waste!! But it came out as expected and seems to fit up to the car well.

I have taken some photos of it straight out of the mould, for you to see. Bear in mind this is the mould finish, not polished, nor painted finish.

The winglets need to be shaped and fitted, but you get the idea. Let me know what ya think!!

Oh yeah and feel free to start ordering!! :D

Cost should be around $650, thats as cheap as could make them.

Also if someone wants to make some suggestions about how to sell items through here, including payments, verifying myself and any fees, I would be more than welcome.

Any inspections on the item are also more than welcome, if someone is close by maybe they could vouch for it?? Not sure, let me know guys.
