Bumper Conversion

Postby kiko.man » Sat May 05, 2012 12:55 pm

I've been thinking about changing my front bumper on my pre-face 3.0 for a while now and I'm still deciding out of the Legacy JDM, Liberal Albero or Mature bumpers.

Would anybody know if these bumpers are just direct replacements or would other bits and pieces be needed to fit them? I know that Mature and Liberal have built in grills but would i need new fog light assembly's or brackets as well?

Hoping you guys can shed some light for me!

A JDM prefacelift GT spec B bar is a direct fit and uses the same grill. Foglights and brackets for it are different however as are the inner guard liners which are the same as postfacelift GT spec B / 3.0R.

G'day Ian,

I was only looking at different bumpers last night for my MY06 3.0R-B - not all that easy to come across.

Reading the fine print on some of them, you have to also buy the brackets and fog light holders separately to the bumper itself. It's annoying because the apparently cheap price quickly starts to add up when you add the other bits you need to keep it from all falling off.

I wonder if it is any cheaper for us to get two sent over at the same time?

cheers,

bj

Thanks for the info, very much appreciated! This is something I definitely will take my time on to avoid future hassles. In terms of pricing I'll have to look into japanparts and phatgt but if it's under $2000 it should be good to go.

So would the final parts list be:
- bumper of choice
- grill (if needed)
- Inner guard liners
- fog light brackets
- fog lights

So I wouldn't need a JDM bumper beam?

Finally made up my mind and ordered the JDM pre-facelift GTB bumper along with the other parts needed but overlooked one thing during my spending spree.. The front lip!

Would anybody know if the pre-facelift 3.0R lip can fit the new bumper? If not I'll just get the right part like I should've initially.

The JDM Spec B lip is unique to that bar. The postfacelift GTB one is an alright fit, but not perfect.

Just get the right one. :D

How much did it all set you back if you dont mind?

I see, I was hoping I could use the lip from my current bar but it's all good. The total cost ended up being approx $850 delivered (bumper, inner lining, fog lamp and brackets.)

I got it all from ImportMonster just in case you were wondering why it ended up being cheaper than I estimated :)

Sorry for what Jamie?

The bumper is painted but not the same colour as my car. I'll have to bring it to my mates bodyshop to get it painted and looking schmick.

They're an overall nice front, I can't fault it. I love the liberal but I didn't like the middle part under the grill and the mature bumper didn't have the feature of putting a front lip on it.
