Review for K2 Gear Rubber Mats for MY10

Postby mongmong77 » Mon Apr 23, 2012 11:18 pm

Hi guys, for anyone who has a MY10, i highly recommend these k2 gear mats from japanparts.
Cost is excessive but its worth it. I paid about $330 plus a whopping $180 for shipping !! I ordered this before I met Phat so yeh rookie mistake
The mats are very light weight and are moulded perfectly into the car, even better than the OEM Subaru carpet mats. It is a high quality rubber which doesnt smell and fits nicely. There is some padding underneath to hold it well in place.
Anyone who has kids will appreciate that any foods and liquids will be easily cleaned off.
Something to consider if your willing to have the best mats your car can get.

I have "special abilities" so I'm interested... at a more reasonable price :P

Just wondering how these would cope with cleaning after mud or rain???
Edit: "foods and liquids will be easily cleaned off."
I like the depth, they'd cover the worn carpet on the lump near the footrest
I quite like the metal garnishes K2 make for the trans tunnel too.
Thanks for the review and keep the updates coming!

I've got OEM rubber floor mats and they are fantastic. They don't look the best but they are perfect for the job they do. Very easy to clean after a weekend camping or just a week of wet shoes covered in dog fur from the mrs work.

Admittedly, I got them for a fantastic price off eBay (rubber mats and headlight protectors[yeah I know they look gay but we do a lot of country miles] for $100) but rubber mats are definitely not an aspect of a car worth $550
Car(s): Steel Silver MY10 GT Wagon + 1985 Subaru Sherpa

Mods: (GT) HKS Panel Filter. The HKS I put in the MY10 is the same filter I took out of my MY05 GT. So yes, they do fit. Custom leather heel pad to minimise carpet wear in the drivers footwell. Slotted front rotors. (Sherpa) 14'' 6 Spoke mags, Chrome Gear Shift (sick!), Alloy Pedals (sicker!), new positive and negative battery terminals, Alpine cda-9827 H/U, JBL GT 6x9's boxed and mounted (sickest!), Kicker DS650.2 component speakers mounted in the footwells in flibreglass pods, Alpine MRP-F200 4 channel amp (4x40wRMS), Rebadged with hektik chrome eBay badges, STi stickers for more powaaaa, "leather" handbrake boot, recarpetted with grey/black car carpet from Bunnings, sick Clarke Rubber boot mat, polished and waxed.

Hi Ben, its nice to have some "intelligent" feedback from someone who also has "special abilities". Im sure Phat can get some at a cheaper rate.
After some use I'll keep u updated with how it cleans after mud/rain. Should have a few items coming in this week from rdhjapan and next week from Phat.Cant wait !

Personally, I would buy them if they were a little cheaper because it's a bitch trying to vacuum all the dust and particles out of carpet, and my mats are still thick carpet not worn down :P Plus the K2 gear ones look bling in person as I've seen them.

Some people like to spend a bit more, same as buying non-car related items like designer sunglasses, high end TVs, rolexes/longiennes watches etc.

+1 !!!
Jerome, where did you see them?
It's a safety feature too, all those faulty floor mats causing recalls, accidents and worse.

I'd say there's some Group Buy potential, given the price of the OEM mats.
