Okay wow, so this is totally a thing.

Bit confused about the wiring, though...

What the hell are the blue and yellow wires? And, what I wanted to know at first, how do I find a lock and unlock signal?

I could be totally incorrect about this, and please guys correct me if i am... but it seems like the BLUE and YELLOW wires are to enable or disable the mirror for adjustment...

And the LOCK/UNLOCK signal refers to when arming or disarming the alarm system via remote. if that is the case then you wont get a signal from there until you "push the button, max!"

Here it is again for this page.

Enable/disable adjustment would make sense if it was Left & Right instead of Off & On. But it doesn't really square with Off and On as far as I can figure...

And yeah, Lock & Unlock is self-explanatory. But where is that signal to splice into? I have NFI

Duh, off the solenoid...

And now I look again at that diagram, I notice the little crosses through the dashed lines, as if the module is wired to interrupt the open/close signal from the dash, and for some reason On is Open and Off is Closed for the input...?

Although I'm not sure how the two wires from the mirrors are meant to hook up to the switch, anyway...

In the unpressed position, the switch connects pins 4-12, 11-13, and pressed, 4-11, 12-13.

Hm, so the module for linking locking and folding doesn't seem up to it - instead of a lock and an unlock signal, we have a straightforward polarity swap, which is obvious from the arrangement of the switch I dismantled above. Then there's the wiring diagram:

So you probably need a relay or two to translate? And how long does the module put out the signal for...?

And an interesting thing about the mirrors implied by the folding circuitry: there must be limit switches - the folding switch just sends continuous power in either position.

And the way those limit switches work isn't simple - they need to be invisible to a reversed voltage. Hmm

that's interesting. maybe the mirror grounds out when locked or unlocked which in turn shuts off the motor signal?

Otherwise it seems it would be easier just to use a relay triggered by capacitors to activate and deactivate. or there's probably a timing IC you can use like a 556 or something.

The resistance of the fold/unfold motor goes up to 10k when it reaches either end of its travel...

Ohm my god that's a lot of electrical resistance!

If that’s for the auto fold relay, on off might engage or disengage the auto fold feature.

Yeah, this diagram is taken for an ad for one of those auto fold modules on eBay.

Problem is, our mirrors work by having the polarity on two wires flipped, not getting an open or close signal...
