Hi,

I have a 07GT SpecB and am wanting to install an alarm especially after reading the post by Dibbo of what happened to his wifes car. According to Dibbo the subi alarm system is weak. READ HIS POST

He installed a "Mongoose 5 star type". Dont know what it cost but I have asked him that question.

Has anyone got any suggestions. Mo did tell me what he installed on his GT but i didnt write it down so I will have to ask him again.

Any suggestions

Garry

I have heard from people that Mongoose are shit.

I have a Brant, as do a lot of other people I know.

http://www.brant.com.au/

Let me know if you want to get one, cause the guy that did mine looked after all my mates when I referred them. He works for them installing, you can cut out the middle man and you still get all the warrantys etc.

Mines got all the keypad, anti carjack, 6 immobilsers etc etc.

Haven't had any dramas, and I highly reccomend them.

fark, there are so many damn variations of the brant alarm :?

do they do one where the alarm is actiavted from the buttons already on your keys, so u don't have to carry another remote around?

and how much are the brant ones from your man skooby including install?

Cheers,
Brendan

Hi RAS and Garry.

If you are with RAC, call Identimark. They will come to you and install a Custodian upgrade alarm (boot sensor, window break sensor) for $300. It works off your original key. If not with RAC, i think it's about $350. I've got one and it's really good, has given me warning sirens a couple of times (must have been from falling honky nuts).

Cheers,
Ben

I can see somne faults as with any alarm, but overall it is very good.

Hijack is annoying until you understand it, but once you know how it works its a good addition to the alarm.

I got the top spec one, which were about $950, I got it for about $700.

It is on the same suby key (less remotes) but you can get the remote if you want.

You can get cheaper ones from them that do a similar job, but I wanted to go all out.

Generally when shitheads steal cars when they see the keypad flashing away they dont even go near it (From my dealings with the little maggots).

Hi All,

Please read this

http://forum.liberty.asn.au/viewtopic.php?p=8335#8335

Dibbo is suggesting that you dont get an alarm that operates of the original buttons on the Subaru Key because that is where the wekness is.

Read the posts on the above link as it explains in more detail.

I still dont know what to do as I dont want another remote control device on my bunch of keys if I can help it.

If a pro theif is going to come and steal my car with a decoder, then go for it.

Most of the maggots are kids, and most of these theifs are not that smart.

It all comes down to, if there is 1 in a 1000 that has a decoder, then my bad luck, but for the other 999 I will have my key coded to my alarm so I dont have to carry yet another transponder thingy around.

IMO anyways.

Hey Garry,
I had an Autowatch 160 RLI ( i think) its the blueline model.

I know what youre saying about using the factory key buttons - same reason why i had to use the Autowatch remote. One of the weakness' was that some of the "upgrade" alarms worked by sensing if the door locks were opened or locked to either disarm or arm the alarm.

I beleive that the newer Autowatch alarms work differently but will be looking into it soon.

Will go read the links you posted up now.

Bye,
Mo
