ADSL2

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

Can't get ADSL2 on my home exchange yet, I have TPG ADSL1 512/128 at the mo.
We have bigpond ADSL1 512/128 at work, but are about to get that same TPG package ($49.99 for 18GB ADSL2) at work. We'll run both in parallel for a month or so, then drop the ADSL1 if there's no dramas.

ADSL2 = SWEET! Ozemail i.e iinet with Voip

Good speeds and no lag even with several PC on network, I'm on 20+20gb
The problem with faster speeds is you need more quota

I agree. When you have adsl2+ speeds, you will be doing A LOT of downloading. On a typical night in my household, the missus will be on the net surfing, I will have something downloading in the background, we'll be streaming music from an online radio station, PLUS I'll be on Xbox Live and the beauty of it is? Absolutely NO lag whatsoever. :D

I realise not all exchanges are equipped with adsl2+ atm, but if yours is, I would definitely recommend it. It's only a short time before all metro exchanges are equipped with it though.

I've been with iinet for a while now too, no DSLAM in my exchange, was listed as "planned" but has since dissapeared, but have been happy with 1500K until I got a letter to this affect the other day:

"We have built our own equipment where we can and worked with our wholesale supplier to reduce our costs. However, we now believe there is no likelihood of costs coming down for the high speed plans any time in the foreseeable future. As such, we regret to advise the download speed of your broadband Light plan will be reduced from 1500k to 512k, 21 days from the date of this notification. "

Now I don't know what to do, might have to look for a new ISP, what a pain in the arse.

I have ADSL2 at home and at office

It seems the closer to the exchange you are the faster it is.

My office connection is quick - like a turbo subbie -
home seems about the same as my old 1500k ADSL connection.

But they are about half the price of ADSL.

$35 p/month with 20 gig download then shaped to slower speed.-
can get cheaper plan with lower download.

If any of you have teenage kids - then you'll need a higher download limit.

Oh just rememeber 1 thing when u get ADSL2 is to turn up the throttle, even thought it seems fast, some isp set you up at base 8k, so get into your control box to chuck it into turbo mode.
