I'm not happy SUBARU

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

Just had my 5000k service this morning on my 07 3RB the service was a little early at 4500k .
My only concern was that it has used 1liter of oil   and I was told that it was nothing unusual ??
Bull Sh!t I say 4500 and 1liter of oil burnt .Is this new high tec 3liter a bloody two stroke i ask myself ???
And they had the bloody hide to charge me for the replacement 1liter bottle

I have a 10 Diahatsu Feroza with 185000k and dose not use a drop in 10000k

So much for the modern car .So much for Subaru!!

The 3 litre engines are famous for using lots of oil during run in.
The only problem is when it takes about 15,000km to finish running it in (like mine)...

I had a Mazda 323 Astina for 12 years/215,000 km, and I never had to top up the oil in that entire time.

My Liberty had several between service oil topups, and Subaru Glen Waverley never once charged me for the oil.

Why should they charge you for the 1 litre? They drain all the oil out and replace it during the 5,000k service anyway!

Do you mean you put it in before going in for the service?

YES I put the 1liter in last week!! and then booked the service for today as I felt it was a bit excessive oil usage in the first 4500k

LOL dude.. maybe you shouldnt of added the oil yourself.. if you were going to service it that soon!

If you want to complain.. ring Subaru Aust and tell them your dealer where you went to get it serviced etc.. and then they will look into it for you :) they helped me with few issues.. Subaru Aust always been goods to me :)

Worth a try man.. did you notifyed them you top'd it up with oil before the service??

The same happened, and still happens to me. As well as window washing fluid. I just tell them I just did it and to take it off so they do.

The thing I want to know is what and where the labor goes. If you add it up there are not enough people to do the service hours they charge in a day. Also do you get charged labor on the wash?

dont forget the 8 hours labour we all get charged for the car while it sits there waiting for the motor to cool down. especially when its only in there an hour or so.

they always say, well to me anyway, to drop it off at 0730, and it will be ready by 1630... im sure as hell not paying for that many hours in labour!!

last time i took it in, i did what they asked, had it dropped off by 0730,
and when i drove past at 0900, still there.. and again at 1200... i get a phonecall at 1430.. its ready...

i asked them if they were charging me for the hours it sat outside and they said it is charged for the entire time its at the yard..

They only charge you for time that the vehicle is actually worked on, but their labour rates are much higher than your local garage mechanic.

Catch is they usually know more about your car than the guys down at the local BP especially the newer cars.

All the brands are the same - "authorised" service is never cheap.

Mine went through more than 1L of oil within 500km during breakin. Now after 10000km the engine oil consumption has settled down. I only have to add about 200-300ml once every 7 weeks or so

There's a few threads on this around the interweb thing, it's pretty common. Mine used 1200ml in the first 5000km.

I had a 90 Feroza too, it used more oil than petrol...
