Hey guys, was wondering if you could give me a hand in my prodicoment

I have been looking for a car for a long time now and i love my subaru's but there is a new lay coming into w.a for P platers in july that says you cant have a v8, v6 supercharger or turbo charger!! so that has limited me off as off what i wanted to buy! i talked to a few people and a few mechanics i know and they all said go with a nissan, hyundai or toyota because there is lots of them and there cheap and easy to find parts for, (tho i always wanted a subi, big fan of imprezza) so i looked at an old 260z that ended up being an auto, looked at a AE86 sprinter which got bought before i managed to get some money out of the bank, looked at a few SSS pulsars and they where all way too thrashed or auto's ( i need a manual car to get my license in)

so i gave it some long thought and cbf waiting anylonger im going to screw what every one told me and go back to the beautiful sound of a subaru and the awesomeness of the boxer engine, so the first car look at is a 1990 liberty wagon, has a 1995 wrx turbo engine in it, but then realise cos of license laws... my dream poped in a matter of seconds, and after looking at a few more i have brought it down too two cars and thats where you guys come in, hopefully you can give me some help and insight on the two cars and maybe talk some sense into me tho it will be hard with out seeing the cars but hear goes!

the first paper add says

i called him and he said its a really good car but the back bumper has been hit a few times so i will need 2 replace that at some stage.. could i therefore get it cheaper?

LIBERTY GX 1990, 2.2L, manual sedan, just serviced, licenced to jun, e/w, cruise, 2" sports exhaust, 17" K-speed rims, lowered with king springs, custom short shifter, new pioneer stereo with 12" sub & amp, average kms, fair cond, must sell 5,000(i could get it for $4,000)

i messaged them asking for pictures and they are sending me some today and also asked why it was 5 grand cos thats pretty hefty and she said she only wanted 4 for it but her dad said put 5. maybe i could get it cheaper? i dont know..



what are your thoughts? if its possible...thanks guys !

What were the km's on that 2nd one?

If it were me, I'd look at the newer one with less mods.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with buying a modified car, you just need to make sure that the mods are done correctly & the car has been well maintained - Remember, mods are a good sign of the car being driven well... Spiritedly

In either case, I would suggest you get a good inspection carried out to make sure there's no hidden supprised waiting for you.

well the 1st one was owned by a older guy and he asked wich car it was so he had 2 cars in the paper and the 2nd one was owned by a young girl im guessing if shes still going by her dad...but ye...

The owner of the second car says its just been serviced so maybe it has a service history ie. serviced on a regular basis. As swingn (congrats on yer 1,000th post by the way!) says, get an inspection done, hits to a rear bumper could mean further damage underneath. I know it's your first car and you're pumped up about it but 'hasten slowly'. I've bought too many dogs that I've lived to regret later.

But back on topic... The main thing is to becareful before you make the purchase. Subaru's have a good rep mechanically, but that doesn't mean shouldn't still be careful when buying one... Especially if they're 10 years + etc.

Having a full service history would be a big plus.

Your car is an exception mate... We all know it's been treated well all it's life

Plus, it's not 10 y/o yet!
