Hi All

Anyone else finding their GT's aren't liking this rather warm weather?

Mine started to over heat on Saturday (40 + temp), but that was sitting in traffic with the air-con cracked... Once the car started moving again the temp went back to normal pretty quick.

But anyway, on the way home from work today the car doesn't seem to be running as well. Maybe I'm now well & truly used to the power etc or perhaps I need a tune really badly... Eitherway, it just doesn't seem right.

Anyone else been noticing anything that could be explained by the increase in temp?

Matt are you tmic or fmic, heat soak will be your issue if you have tmic. Hotter air thru intake means your ecu will actually start to retard more as well. Also might be time to check your coolant levels now.

Yes, I have a TMIC... I must admit, last summer (Before mods) the car didn't seem to suffer as much.

Not sure if it's just the heat or if something else is wrong... I could just be worrying about nothing of course... But you know the old saying, "better to be safe then sorry".

Coolant levels are fine, one of the first things I checked actually.

That's why I've got intercooler water spray as well as water injection planned.

I must admit the H6 doesnt suffer as much as the STI in the heat.

it sucks to be a turbo > 35c

it reached 45.9 today here... fuk its still 44c

Parked at golf on sat (yes I know Im an idiot to play in that heat) got in it at 4.30 and the car would not turn over, thought I had left lights on or a door/boot open and drained the batery ...turned the climate control and radio off and it kicked over, dont know wether the heat or battery on the way out.
Seeing I dont drive everyday I assume this reduces the battery life??

Get yourself a Ctek battery conditioner/float charger (not a trickle charger) and it will keep your battery in tip-top shape whilst you are not driving it.

prices range from $99 for the small motorbike one to $299 for the big unit

That sounds like battery charge issues to me.

I was in the exact same situation in one of my family's older cars.

So anyway, with this heat we've been having, should I be worrying if my car isn't running right?

I think it should still be alright matie, just check all your fluids to make there are no leakages.

We all know that turbos run best in cold wet conditions as the air is denser. Hot weather performance wise sucks.

I haven't had any problems or issues matt..

My wife's 07Forester was a pig on hot days and couldn't pull the boat on a hot day with out overheating .The B4 NEVER had this problem?

Depends on the definition of 'not running right

It needs a tune regardless...

I'll get the car checked over in the not too distant future (Seemed to be normal this morning) & then we'll see how she runs after a tune

I'd say it'll still be warm by the time I get it done
