The TbSTI liberty differs from the GT-B by a tune and brembos AFIK, As long as it is a EJ255 with D25 (Single AVCS on the intake) it Should just bolt and plug straight in. Assuming you still have your motor you can pull off bits and pieces as required just remember that while the engine is out it's a great time to do rear main seals, spark plugs, valve rocker covers, and any other service items.

Yeah mate, the JDM Twinscroll EJ255 should fit your 08 Liberty, but there are a few things to look out for. First, make sure your ECU can handle the new engine, since the mapping might be different. Also, the exhaust system will need adjusting for the twinscroll setup.

Double-check the turbo placement as JDM engines might have accessory layout differences. Good luck with the swap, it’s totally doable, especially if you've got some experience already :)

What JDM “twin scroll ej255”?
The sole possibility for any Liberty/Legacy might be the S402 engine.
If you have one of those, much kudos.

The main point of difference with the MY08 GT is that the engine harness is different to the previous model year, MY07.
So retaining your original engine harness would be the key with your replacement long motor, as long as that’s a 2.5L single avcs item.
