Bonnet Struts (pictures posted)

Ok as luck would have it we have a vendor on perth-wrx who sells bonnet struts (hydraulic) to wrx owners. They are a quality product but previously would not fit Libs. He now has some new stock and believes they will fit Libs. He is test fitting a set for me this week and I will post up pics and results once completed.

Yep, keen as mustard here. I organised a fella that sold bonnet struts on ebay to sort some out for the GT Forries and it is one of those small things I miss about the car.

He charges $120 and installs them for free here in WA.

sooooo getting them! I hate the fact that my Old 2004 Falcon had struts, and the liberties don't!

Yep, I'd be interested.
The last time I tried a generic strut off eBay, I couldn't install the struts simply because there wasn't enough room in the gutter where the strut is meant to sit. For my MY07, it's slightly less than 2cm then you have to subtract the depth of the bonnet - in other words not much room. From the pics, the depth of the gutter on the WRX is much greater or it could just be that I don't have a sense of scale.
Anyhow, I look forward to the results of the test fit.

this would mean that you can't drop the bonnet to shut it?
alloy bonnet and all... and i had some twit leave a dent in my 2.5i...

Mmm not bad idea.. doesn't tickle my fancy either.. own pref I guess.. but does it give you few kw?
does it increase or decrease weight to the car?

It just means that if you are under the bonnet you don't have to duck around the stupid stick/pole.
this would mean that you can't drop the bonnet to shut it?
If they are like the ones on my Foz you get to a certain point in lowering the bonnet and the dampers have no effect meaning you can 'drop' it closed. Almost learnt the hard way and nearly took the ends off a couple of fingers.

why are the others upside down.....if you look at all wagons and hatches the chromes section is allways at the bottom like my ones....mmmm

Mounting them the way yours are done Shane (shaft below the cylinder) is the better way of doing it. The end seals will be better lubricated which can increase the length of time the damper/strut holds its charge
